We shouldn't, but the way I took Denny's words and what he said on KREF, increasing NIL is for the program not for Porter. He's establishing a new baseline and expectation for how the program should be funded whether its for Porter or for the next guy after next season.
Then it seems pretty weird he would go out of his way to reference the lack of NIL funds and OU's smaller basketball staff compared to the major programs. If he didn't have money from the donors for Porter's buyout, he could have easily just released a statement that Porter was being retained...
