You keep Mateer and bring in a young guy to groom and step in if we don't see improvement. Likely Bentley but could keep an eye out for talented freshman wanting a reset and willing to fight for a spot/start on the bench.
I'm not an X's and O's guy, but X seems to have what Kennedy Brooks had. He knows when to hit the hole immediately and he know when to be patient and give the hogs a second to open up that hole. Doesn't really compute that X has somewhere to run and that Blaylock and Barnes don't. Major used...
Yes, I wanted to play the data game, but you aren't providing any.
I've got everything on my side in terms of data. QBR is the most validated metric we have for QB play and correlates better with MVP and Heismans than any other metric. EPA is the best metric to estimate an impact per play...

You can switch the year from that page.
To be clear, the difference between Mateer and Baker is MASSIVE. 20 points is huge. And that's the same gap between Arnold last year and Mateer this year.
Give me one piece of objective data that supports your claim. Anything at all other than the eye test of somebody who likely has never coached, called plays, or played QB.
So you're saying that if Arnold was with a different playcaller and had WRs like Cam Coleman, he'd do better?
I guess...
And I'm saying that their QBR is 20 points different, our offensive rating went from 16th in the SEC to 9th, and his SEC record is 5-2 vs 2-10. They simply arent comparable.
QBR doesn't go above 100. You're looking at passer rating, which is a much less comprehensive stat that most have moved away from.
Baker was 80.4, 91.8, and 92.3.
