I’ve been in LNC when it was standing room only several times … during Tubbs reign .. and again with Hollis/Q teams. When we were great, and had great opponents people showed up. People never showed for Sisters of the Poor.
It’s not the arena. LNC is the easiest to get to arena Ive been to...
This is exactly how the system should work if it's just a business, so it seems a natural consequence to me. Full free agency in a talent based business leads to this .. and having seen this arms race in my industry (with similar payouts) .. the businesses (schools) can't stop it unless they...
I’ve done both, nearly 20yr with a world famous software firm .. and an avg of 2yr per stop last decade with others. That loyalty cost me millions. It’s the same for players. Loyalty to an amoral business entity as “a resource” with no guarantees (contract) is breathtakingly stupid.
So this...
Doge is too busy pretending they can solve problems using a chainsaw and 19 year old software interns lol.
If you want to eliminate waste in the AD, just eliminate college athletics .. stop building giant stadiums, maintaining huge highly paid staffs, separate dorms, etc .. and spin off those...
Porter should’ve stayed at Loyola. OU bball has been where careers go to retire or die. Now he (and we) are stuck until he has a losing season again. Maybe not even then, since the AD seems OK with that. Not sure our AD even knows how to fire someone for performance reasons.
Billyball is what I grew up on. It’s why I liked OU basketball more than the football team for a couple of decades. Vastly more fun to go to game back then .. what with standing room only games and being part of iconic moments like that Missouri game. I wish we could find someone to run that...
The current problem isn’t the coach, it’s the guy who runs the department. We need someone who isn’t content with their legacy running the AD. It will not get better until that happens.
