I don’t disagree, but would just say that having a history of competitive NIL makes it easier to recruit/retain an above average coach.
Some On3 graphic from a few weeks ago had OU listed as the third worst SEC job according to an anonymous coaches poll. Part of that is the condition of the...
I wish they cut Moser loose too but honestly think sentiment is so low, it’s almost like they’re waiting for an outside catalyst since sentiment is so low. Football makes a deep run or championship and/or the UNP project has its inaugural season. Then boosters will be more willing to give to the...
OU could spend more on operations too but absolutely on-point to post a list excluding roster payments as some “GOT YOU LOSER LOVERS” about resource allocation. Especially when the list has OU as bottom half in the SEC.
I don’t want to give Denny that much credit because I see so little downside with encouraging Moser to move on but I’d agree that OU is not going to be able to build a long-term sustainable improvement without improving its resource base given the current NIL/portal environment.
Again, I’m at...
I don’t disagree about Moser but I think it’s more complicated than just firing and hiring a new guy. I’m not going to beat this to death because people clearly disagree on what’s most important so will just outline the below.
I think we can all agree that OU is never going to be Kentucky...
At the end of the day, I think OU will always be under-resourced compared to rivals, especially in the SEC but I think you & other posters are underestimating the gap re basketball and most importantly how greater resources would create an environment where a desirable coach would want to stay...
Pretty down on this news; seems like the path of least resistance. Which to me doesn’t inspire much confidence in Denny. But time will tell for sure.
OU is clearly under-resourced compared to the rest of the SEC in terms of basketball but 100% agree that the program’s ceiling is limited with...
I think the 2024-2025 UNC example is a pretty obvious example of mixed incentives, especially with Cunningham having a direct monetary incentive to see UNC in the tournament but linked below are abstracts for two academic papers which argue the committee has historically favored teams with...
