Fears & the NBA Draft Projections

I I was at that game and thought there were three - Fears, Wolf, and the Michigan center. I was obviously wrong about the last one. There wasn't anyone else on that court that was an NBA-caliber player. Jalon Moore was the 4th best player in that game.

Fears & the NBA Draft Projections

That move has resulted in New Orleans being selected as the Draft's "biggest loser". My guess as to their management's thinking is that even if the Pelicans aren't that good next season, they should at least be competitive. That would put the pick somewhere in the 10-14 range UNLESS they win...

NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

This is only a great trade for Atlanta IF Porzingis can stay on the court...throughout his career, has he even played in 50% of the games? That has seemingly been the Hawks problem for quite some time. If they can keep their guys on the court, this coming year should have their best team in...

Fears & the NBA Draft Projections

I read that as well (directly below)...$10-15 million difference...that's a lot of money for a rookie to leave on the table. Fears #5 in this latest Mock. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45559441/2025-nba-mock-draft-latest-first-second-round-predictions-all-59-picks

NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

To this day, it's the toughest sports loss I've ever had to digest. As an LA Lakers fan, Dallas Cowboys fan, LA Dodgers fan, and of course, OU football fan - I've lost count the number of big losses through the years, but nothing really comes close to that 1988 title game. The OU football...

NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

Congrats to those who follow the OKC Thunder. Great drafting was the catalyst which earned them this title. If they stay hungry, they won't be one-and-done with title rings. If you think 1988 haunts someone who wasn't born, imagine what it does to people like me who remember every waking...

The Baylor murderer from 2003 was released on parole.

For whatever reason, Bliss did not want to be at OU any longer. If I had to guess why, it would be that he figured it would be a long-term career-killer since OU was about football and Barry Switzer. Bliss clearly mailed in his last season at OU, then left Billy Tubbs with virtually nothing...

NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

You and Wichita are correct. I forgot about that. Regardless, in looking at that 2021 NBA Draft, how many players would have been selected over him in one of those hindsight re-drafts? Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley, definitely...maybe Scottie Barnes. Anyone else? Four years is enough of a...

NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

Obviously, no one saw this coming or he would have been drafted. During one of the Lakers playoff games, the announcer and commentator agreed that Reaves is the best undrafted NBA player since Ben Wallace. OU has done pretty well through the years with players who weren't expected to...

    Kelvin contract extension

Perhaps not my best choice of words, but how many other top-25 / top-30 all-time college hoops programs would hire a head coach who: 1) was a walk-on college basketball player, 2) has no previous head-coaching experience at any level, and 3) has very little assistant coaching experience at any...

    Kelvin contract extension

I wonder if he's at least interviewed for head coaching jobs at mid-major schools. The only time he has been away from dad was about 15 years back when he had a brief run at App State under Jeff Capel's brother, Jason. That didn't work out too well. He basically has a choice of waiting for...

Have we ever had a starting front line of 6'8, 6'9, 6'10"?

Dave Sieger, Tim McCalister, Darryl Kennedy, David Johnson, Chuck Watson, Mark Wade and Joe Seager. Who would have thought Tubbs would sign a 7-player class which NONE were JUCOs :-). That class basically carried the torch Tubbs and Tisdale lit. Wade leaving probably hurt more than most will...

    Ebi Ere

I don't know who Gandy was, but you nailed it with Clark and Pierce - BOTH who came to OU the same year Wayman did. I believe Clark had the second highest vertical in college hoops...forgot why he didn't make it to the finish line at OU.

    Ebi Ere

I'm sure all OU fans wish Ebi nothing but the best. I recall his playing days. When he was playing well, OU was basically unstoppable. I'll never forget his play in the non-conference games his senior year, most notably at UConn. For whatever reason, he went into a funk the latter part of...

Have we ever had a starting front line of 6'8, 6'9, 6'10"?

Correct. I had it wrong, but Billy Tubbs deserves part of the blame :-). In the most productive and deepest recruiting class in school history (1983), Billy had the nerve to recruit both Dave Sieger and Joe Seager. That Seager was the only one of the 7 signees who didn't make an impact in...
