Roster
6-4 Sr Ijeoma Odimgbe
6-0 Soph Mandy Simpson
6-0 Fr Ana Llanusa
5-9 Sr Gileysa Penzo
5-7 Soph Shaina Pellington
6-5 Fr Aspen Williston
6-2 Fr Nydia Lampkin
6-1 Fr Madison Williams
5-8 Fr Tatum Veitenheimer
5-7 Fr Jessi Murcer
5-7 Fr Taylor Robertson
Two possible transfers.
First, let's unclear things up: Madison Williams is 5-10 by HoopGurlz, 6-1 by Prospect Nation. Looking at her, I might think she is about 5-11, possibly 6-0. She is the one that Charli Collier calls "a beast."
Taylor Robertson looks a lot more like 5-9 or 5-10 than 5-7. If she is 5-7, the players in Kansas are short. She seems taller than most.
I've seen Aspen Williston at 6-4 to 6-6.
From what Sherri said, I think it is possible that Nydia might get an early start. She talked about Brown and how unusual that is going to be. Indeed, Texas is going to the power forward type center in Holmes and Collier. She seems want to be a guard-oriented running team. She seemed happy with her guards.
With Ana, Shaina, Madison, and Tatum, she has reason to be happy. Madison is a guard that can get ten rebounds in a game. What is she averaging, about 25 and 15 this year? This was her first breakout offensive year. Collier says she is good at it. Her coach said she was good at defense.
I don't see Madison guarding a 6-5 post. Nydia may be able to based on what is said in the SoonerSports.com news story about the NextGen recruits. I can see Nydia getting a shot at being the post as a defender. I don't know that we'll have a back to the basket post on offense. We may run and gun.
If you can get the other team tired, it might not be a big deal if Taylor or Jessi were a bit slow. I don't know that I buy the observation on Taylor yet. But, Madison, Ana, Tatum, and Shaina may run some people into the ground. All they need is the ball. It becomes important that Mandy and EJ learn to rebound better. Nydia is supposedly good on the boards, as is Madison. I kind of hate to have Madison crashing the boards. I'd like to have her as a trailer on the break: fast enough to keep up, good rebounder in case they miss the layup.
I think Sherri is looking to bring in a JC post and JC forward. I don't know if we will need them. They need to fit with the rest of these kids. I see the future in Ana, Shaina, and the freshmen.
