2025 National Title Houston Cougars vs Florida Gators 7:50 CBS

no it won't outside NIL will be the wild west still the very first NIL deal to be rejected will result in a lawsuit and an injunction
The opposite -- the outside NIL will now be subject to review by a clearinghouse and the expectation is that they will actually be much more strict in the sense that they will have to be legit deals. In other words, guys won't get six figures for showing up for 30 minutes of promotional work.

no it won't that will get throw out in court the moment enforcement is tried .. restriction of trade ... for non employees .. it won't last at all

even the parties of the settlement agree that federal legislation is needed going forward for it to work at all

Who knows. I have read dozens of articles on it, quoting all sorts of people, and every coach and school seem to think that it will cause a massive change.

boulder's default is always "somebody will sue."

I think the new regulations will definitely slow things down, and I don't think we're going to see a "day 1" lawsuit over the issue.

They aren't employees. There are ways to measure what is fair market value and what is a cash payment for inducement.

Very dynamic situation but the clearinghouse is already facing legal challenges, months before it goes into effect.

They’re not “just going to sue,” people are already setting up the landscape to invalidate it.

I admit administrators have paid attention more to this than me but seems extremely unlikely to me in 2025 that an independent arbiter is going to tell college athletes they cannot make a certain amount of money (under their current status) or that any number of big spenders in the rev sports have any incentive to agree to it.

fair market value is by definition what someone will pay PERIOD

ding ding ding we have a winner

The way things are right now, nothing is stopping this train unless they make them employees. Even then, not sure how you're going to stop NIL from donors being involved. It's a show and the show is going to get worse not better.
