#24 OU vs ISU BIG 12 Tourney 830CST on ESPN

6 points or 60 points, I'll take a postseason win every time.

OU doesn't have the offensive firepower to bury bad teams. But good news, they won't play another bad team this year!

Dude. Leave. Or come up with some gosh dang positivity for once. Get laid, geez

You can click on my name and see all my posts. When the team does something well, I say so. When we play poorly, I’m critical of the team. Only on this board do the positivity police require you to be ecstatic when a 2-22 team shoots 13/16 down the stretch against us.

Yeah giving up 33(!!) of 45 2nd half points in the final 6:30(how do we go from so good to so incredibly bad) of the game is pretty....not great.

Glad to have the win though.

Careful, the *****es on this board don’t tolerate criticism, especially the kind supported by facts.

the good news is OU got a much needed win and maybe it can relax the team some going into tomorrow. This team is what it is, they're not going to win any beauty contests and gonna have to grind out the last 4 minutes of the games here on out and hope enough breaks go in OU's favor and escape with wins

The 3 consecutive turnovers in the beginning of that run was probably the laziest display of basketball this team played all year. Really disappointed this group wasn't disciplined enough to run the game down more. Nothing a win tomorrow can't fix though.

My apologies in advance for good posters like Boulder, Wichita, Ada, etc....but I'm just tired of this program's apathy. Regarding this team in the last several weeks....they simply don't do the little things and they make me wanna puke. When you don't have the talent, you better do everything right....and they seem to have forgotten that. So I'm going to rant. And I'm not going to celebrate a 6 point win over a horrific team...sorry.

For gawd's sake....they couldn't put away a 2-21 team after being up 19. What in the hell is wrong with these guys? We've seen this time and time again this season. They get a lead against any caliber of team and they haven't put their foot on the throat since the TCU home game. Maybe they just aren't that good right now....that's a possible explanation. We continue to fall in the advanced metrics. They obviously need more talent but the decision-making/basketball IQ in the last 10 minutes of this game is a microcosm of the last 3 weeks....and makes you want to throw your hands up and say f..k it!

I guess I'm just tired of being only "moderately good" and I want to see this program take the next step. Well, it ain't gonna happen with the dynamic that we have in place currently. If we want to "ascend"....we are going to need some changes. Apathy has set in with me....and I know I'm not the only one. Maybe we beat a shorthanded KU tomorrow, but I wouldn't count on it. The joy of watching OU basketball is decreasing by the game....sigh.

I, for one, feel great to a) end the four game losing streak and b) get Lon’s THIRD big 12 tournament win (and first since the Obama administration). That’s not nothing. Take it where you can get it.

I know Iowa State is 2-21, but watching them many times throughout the year makes it obvious that they are much more feisty than their record. They would’ve finished, like, third in the Pac-12 or middle of the pack in the ACC. They lost nine (half) of their big 12 games by single digits, including AT WVU, AT Texas, and AT Baylor. They can make a mess of 3s in a hurry, which we saw in the last 6 minutes tonight and the entire game in Norman. Tonight, they were playing with their hair on fire to keep their season alive for one more day, but we came out on top.

Yes, it was disheartening to see this team blow a big lead, but that’s something we have done throughout the season. You can physically feel the energy leave the team when they take their foot off the gas, BUT! That’s not going to happen again this season because it’s only going to be close dog fights from here on out. And we are more experienced with those than perhaps any team in the country.

I am heartened by the return of the good decision making in fast breakS. The fast breaks were, frankly, concerning during the 4-game losing streak, but tonight they balled OUT. It was also great to see the bench come alive again. Everyone contributed and did their job. One to the next one. We match up well against KU without McCormack and their fans filling KC. Lets get it.

Good post. Couldn't have said it better myself.

They're the best 2-21 team in the country.

We scored 79 points. It wasn't offense, it was defense that let ISU stay in the game.

ISU's offensive totals in the 10 games before last night (they scored 73 last night):

56
54
67
72
72
56
58
50
64

So I'll say it again, DEFENSE (or lack thereof) is why that game was as close as it was.

Man, that team has zero talent. Fran is such a nice guy it was hard for him to say they don't have Big 12 quality players, but he said it at the beginning of the game.

I don't know what will happen with their coach, but if they can get Hoiberg back that would be better.

Well, except Bolton, who is one of the 800 guards in the league who you consider better than Reaves. :)

I’m sure if we do beat KU, your “apathy” will just lead you to harp on the fact they were short handed, and either way, people will act like McCormack is the second coming of Wilt and the most critical player on the planet.

As for last night, one of my strongest beliefs is that many posters on this board watch very little college basketball other than OU games. If you watch games around the country, you will see that teams gag away huge leads and play sloppy as heck down the stretch all too often. Xavier likely saw their bubble burst last night by blowing a 19 point lead and losing to a bad Butler team. Did anyone watch Syracuse try as hard as possible to let Carolina rally in the last couple minutes last week? College players struggle against the press, miss free throws, and struggle to put games away. Our posters seem to act like we are an anomaly and that most top 25 teams cruise to victory most nights. It just doesn’t happen. Until our four game skid, we were third in the conference in scoring margin, despite only having two conference wins by more than 10 points. None of this excuses last night. When our best (and most disliked by posters on this board) player was taken out for a couple minutes with a tweaked ankle and a seemingly huge lead, the other guards all made incredibly stupid plays that led to fast break buckets and gave ISU confidence. But to read some of these posts, it’s like the other 34 minutes of the game didn’t even happen.

The white knights are riding in to defend the honor of Oklahoma basketball. Godspeed noble warriors!

Well put. You're not alone.

C'mon man.....you know me better than that. Any win over KU is a great win....and there wouldn't be any excusing them missing McCormack, etc....at least not from me. And I thought the team played pretty good for a majority of the game last night. But we are seeing a trend over the last several weeks where either there are plays not being made down the stretch or really stupid plays occurring (low Bball IQ) by multiple players in crunch time. The trend is disturbing to me because it isn't just one or two games.

Advanced metrics may not mean much to most people, but they do to me. We have plummeted in Kenpom, Sagarin, etc. Those analytics have us around a 9/10 seed if we were to just go by them only. Thank goodness we had some good scalps in February that will keep us in the top half of the bracket. I think we are playing to the "level" of a bubble team right now instead of at the level of a 4/5 seed. You can disagree, but that is what my eyes tell me.

This isn't a bad take. We're playing sloppy and we miss a lot of shots you'd think we should make. I still feel this one has a puncher's chance, based on the scalps we've managed to get, but it's not going to be pretty.
