Why?

We have 4 or 5 guys that can play the post. Maybe not that well really. But that's enough to manage with a 3 guard, 2 forward lineup. We have Fitz, Neal, Thompson, Washington, and Honore. Again they are all undersized, all not really that good. But there's more versatile lineups with the typical 3 guard 2 post lineup to me. Plus it may take some pressure away from the post on Fitzgerald who has to almost always beat double teams to get baskets. It's kinda amazing he's putting up the numbers he does in this lineup.

This also brings me to my next complaint. If we are as bad as we are. Why not play everybody in all types of lineup till we see what works? It's not like it'll really hurt if we lose by 30 instead of 20. Heck we may lose by 15 some games instead of 20 because we'll have guys that aren't wore out by the end.

Pretty simple really. The guards are much better than the forwards. Clark, Davis, Pledger, Fitz and Blair are the best players (right now) on the team. Newell and Neal need seasoning while Washington, Thompson and Honore just suck. So I suppose Capel thinks by putting 4 guards out there that the opposing team may try to put 4 smallish guys out there. That won't work when the other team has much, much, much, much more talent. Actually, I don't know if or what Capel is thinking. He's seems lost.

If you change up the starting lineup every game you don't establish any consistency. Zepp what you're talking about is what substitutions are for. The starting lineup is usually set for every team the entire year for the most part, with maybe one or two players breaching the line up. But if you playing a bigger team u sub in a big for a guard or vice versa to maintain that consistency. The problem we have is that we don't know what we're gonna get out of CJ, Nick or Neal from game to game.

And you know what your going to get from the others?

For the most part yes. And u know more of what their upside is. That's why u start them. If it's an off night then u make adjustments through substitutions.

I agree that the 4 guards and Fitz are our 5 best players. But it puts us at such a disadvantage inside when we play 4 guards for 30 minutes of every game. I dont mind 4 guards at times, but for the most part we need 2 bigs in there, CJ Washington and Andrew Fitzgerald, with Neal spelling them. IMO

Also, I believe that Capel can still find plenty of minutes for Pledger, Clark and Cade while playing two bigs. Clark and Cade dont need to play 35-40 minutes per game. They can play 30 minutes and Pledger can play 25 instead of 30-35 and there are your minutes for CJ and Neal.

so why do people assume thompson and especially neal can play post?
both do nothing but shoot threes. neither really attempts to rebound unless you count standing by the goal and hanging around until the ball bounces your way. neither really even attempts to score inside. well neal will, i suppose but not consistent enough, however thompson i dont think has shot more than handful of times in or near the paint. heck if he gets in the paint he would rather try to make a difficult pass to fitz then score and easy shot.
so just curious why you think those two are post players? b/c of how tall they are? and the other thing neither can play defense very well. heck Cade is stronger then both and holds his own better than those two together.

i do think neal needs to play, but i think his perfect spot is where cam is playin now, the 3. but i dont see that happening much which is probably why his minutes have dwindled. the thing is we need cj or thompson to step up and cj has but he is undersized and well i already said what i needed to about thompson

Thompson can't play anywhere.

I think Thompson, Neal and Osby will all play minutes at the 3 next year. The depth chart could look something like this with a lot of lineups with 3 big men.

PG Blair/Newell
SG Clark/Pledger
SF Osby/Neal
PF Fitz/Thompson
C Goff/Washington
