Harrah 52, Victory Christian 41
BETHANY — There’s no doubt when Victory Christian steps on the floor its size can be a bit intimidating to most teams. The problem is it’s hard to intimidate the defending state champions who had plenty of size in 6-foot-1 Ali Brozowski.
“We’ve taken a lot of shots this year, and people really come at you, but that comes with the territory with the success that this program has had,” said Harrah coach Jeff Mahoney. “Victory is so athletic and long and it’s a chess match. We didn’t shoot the ball well early, but we defended well and that was the difference.”
Brozowski scored a gamehigh 17, including a pair of 3-pointers, for Harrah in a 52-41 win to advance to Friday night’s semifinals.
“Ali has really worked on her outside game and we’re comfortable with her shooting the ball from outside,” said Mahoney. “She did a good job of playing with two fouls.”
Harrah’s dynamic duo of Erika Ankney and Brozowski scored 14 of the 17 points scored in the first quarter as each had seven. Harrah built a 22-12 early in the second quarter before Victory Christian went on a 14-3 run to take its first lead of the game at 26-25 before Harrah took a 27-26 lead at the half.
Midway through the third Harrah started a 17-4 run that went deep in the fourth as Harrah led 49-46. Harrah also just gave up just five in the final quarter.
Ankey finished with 12 points. Gem Summers led the way for Victory with 11.

Fort Gibson 56, Tuttle 31
BETHANY — It didn’t take long for Fort Gibson’s Kayci Glover and Zoe Shieldnight to feel comfortable on a court they will play the next four years. The Southern Nazarene signees combined for 22 points inside the Sawyer Center in a 56-31 win over Tuttle to advance to the semifinals.
“It’s pretty exciting to play in the state tournament regardless, but to play on the future court just makes it more special,” said Shieldnight.
“We’re focused on getting back to the finals, but playing where we’re going to play next year is great,” said Glover.
Fort Gibson got Tuttle’s Macy McAdoo in foul trouble early as she picked up her second with just 6:34 left in the second quarter. That, combined with a second-quarter 3-pointer by sophomore Zoey Whitely at the buzzer, propelled Fort Gibson the rest of the way. Glover scored eight in the second half and Sheildnight scored five as Fort Gibson outscored Tuttle 36-17 in the second half.
“We just started hitting more shots inside and looking for the high post,” said Glover. “Zoey hitting that three right at the end of the half was huge.”
Whitley finished with eight along with Laney Swink who also had eight, with six coming in the second half.
“Once we got their big girl in foul trouble coach just said go right at her and we did,” said Sheildnight. “Our defense created a lot of easy shots as well .”

Elgin 52, Anadarko 45
BETHANY — Elgin knew if it was going to knock off one of the perennial powers of 4A, it knew it had to take advantage where it did all year, in the paint.
The Owls struggled to do that in the first half with just 13 points, but erupted in the second half with 19 in the third and 20 in the fourth in a 52-45 win over Anadarko.
Elgin’s Kailah Ballou had 11 of her 17 in the first half, but she was just one of two in the books for the Owls at the half.
“Anadarko is relentless on defense and that caused a lot of turnovers,” said Elgin Head Coach Brett Tahah. “One of our main goals was being aggressive. We we’re really passive in the first half, but once we picked it up in the second half things started opening up for us.”
Open up they did as Christina Jenkins and Izzy Cummins combined for 24 in the second half, as each had 12. Cummins, along with twin sister Gabby and fellow guard Paige Pendley, began to stretch the Lady Warrior defense and found gaps all through the second half.
The Owls held Anadarko to just 11 points in the third and got a huge 3-pointer from Izzy Cummins late in the third to lead 32-28 and never trailed in the fourth.

Muldrow 42, Broken Bow 38
BETHANY — A frantic fourth quarter full of missed free throws provided plenty of drama in the final game of the four Class 4A quarterfinals as Muldrow held on late to down Broken Bow 42-38. Muldrow now advances to the semifinals to take on defending state champion Harrah Friday.
Both Oklahoma State and Arizona State were in the house to watch Muldrow’s Taylen Collins who scored eight points. The 6-1 sophomore had the task of guards Oklahoma signee Aspen Willston and held the 6-5 senior to a game-high 11. Alicia McCloria and Madison Chambers led the way for Muldrow with nine.
Muldrow led by as much as nine in the third and were up 24-15 with 3:57 left in the quarter when Broken Bow went on a 12-4 to cut it to 28-27 at the end of the third. Muldrow pushed the lead to 40-31 with 3:22 in the fourth when Broke Bow scored six straight to get within two with just 1:05 left. Both teams struggled at the line late, but it was Chambers’ final two with 28 seconds left that sealed the game.
“We just made some silly decisions at the end,” said Muldrow Head Coach, “Jana Armer. “We talked about trying to push the ball and hope to wear Broken Bow down and get some easy baskets. They went to a man-to-man and we crumbled a bit. We’re better than that, but we got those big free throws late when we needed it.”
