I keep marveling at just how slim the margin is in college basketball between success and mediocrity. 7 points separates this 14-7 (5-4) team from the following record:

17-4 (6-3).

In that scenario, we would have losses @WVU, @Baylor, @Kansas, and neutral site against Wisconsin. Our ranking would probably be in the 8-10 range, especially considering how tough we played both KU and Baylor.

Every single possession in every single game matters.

It is even worse when you consider how poorly OU played the second half against Creighton, the first half against Washington and large potions of the KSU game. If OU had played well and simply lost close games, it would be easier for me to deal with. The coaching staff might actually like the way OU lost those games (not that they like any losses). They can show the guys when you play hard for 40 minutes you are a top 10 type of team.
