#8 OU vs #13 Duke 3:30pm 11/27

Duke is ahead by 11pts. 9 Turnovers is what got Duke ahead of us. 10 points off our 9 turnovers… we have GOT to stop turning the damn ball over. Or else we are not winning this game

46-35 Duke ahead at half. Beers twisted her ankle on a flagrant found by Duke where they hooked her arm and pulled her down…not maliciously but very physical. Duke was more aggressive and physical on defense. On offense good movement by Duke and they were hot particularly on 3s. Also 0 offensive rebounds for us…Duke ahead 18-10 on the boards…I am sure Jennie will emphasize getting more aggressive. Payton with 13 and Beers with 9.

Bad TO’s as well.. bad passes (angles etc)

Got to make our free throws. Didn’t realize that Kara Lawson is their coach.

Sloppy finish, bad passes… as I stated earlier, we have some very sloppy fundamentals. Ah well… we’ll go to the tourney, win a game or two.

109-99 loss in OT. Verhulst with a big 3 to take it to OT. Everything went Duke’s way in overtime. Duke shot great but we have to work on doing better on defense…too many open looks. Verhulst with 29 and Beers with 26.

Does someone need to take Tots minutes? Her stat storyline was pathetic.
Was little Van overmatched as a FR? Does she have limitations because of size against top teams?
Great effort to come back and force OVT. Guess ladies ran out of gas. Get the next one.

Gives them a lot to work on early in the season. Duke has played a tougher schedule at this point.

By the way a triple double for Payton…29 points 10 rebounds and 10 assists. She was fantastic

I agree on Tot…0 points and only 3 assists…go back and look at the box scores for the 2 NCAA games last year…similar when she plays bigger better athletes.

If you watch them in person it certainly is obvious between Z Vann and Tot who should be starting, at least to my eye. Your starting point guard cannot be 0/7 including 0/5 from 3. The day when you can start someone 5'3" is over. Great job to come back and make it a game when it looked like they would get blown out, but couldn't get over the hump. If you need something else to angst about how about the 50 ft heave that Duke made at the end of a quarter take away that 3 different story

I'm content to let Jennie decide who starts and who plays rather than message board warriors. I was only able to follow the game on the ESPN app. To my amateur eye, missed free throws and poor defense of the 3-point line were as, if not more, important than Tot's stat line.

Joens did not play. Anyone know why?
I think it just was rotations tightening up vs a tough opponent. KJ and Culliton only played 1 minute each. Payton played 38 minutes and we needed her on the court as much as possible as she was clearly our top guard. I think Aubrey was just odd player out tonight…will be interesting to see how minutes are distributed vs Louisville.

Whatever problems....to me it seems this team still hasn't gelled. Well, unless it happened today because I thought game was later so did not see.
Not criticizing coaches nor players, believe it is a difficult task and Jenny will eventually decide who gets more minutes and with whom the players will play and then they will adapt.
It is early. To, I thought we should be better free throw shooters last year, but definitely this year we have had problems. Maybe last year the poorer free throw shooting was something Jennie accepted as a trade off of doing something else better........maybe continually expending so much energy made free throws more difficult....just an uneducated guess.
S. Carolina lost to iUCLA. It happens to everyone.

That was some great play at the end of the game. They had some tall athletic McDonald all-Americans and we hung with them most of the second half. Just wish we were better with our free throws.
