make you go hmmmm:

- Tyler Neal attempting an awkward reverse lay up when he could have dunked it or layed in.
- Tyler Neal compounding that decision by inbounding the ball to the wrong team immediately after they had a run-out.
- DJ Bennett on that half reverse jam/lay up when he doinked it off the front iron
-Spangler missing the easy finger roll at the end
- Spangler's lob pass to Cam out of the time-out

Wish we could have those back...I know MSU had few as well but those were some crucial mishaps offensively that killed us.

Neal really should have dunked that ball. I guess he thought someone had a chance to block his shot if he didn't do that reverse layup.

As I noted in other threads, our failure to finish at the basket was the difference in this game. Woodard missed at least twice on driving layups also.

Tyler's athletic ability shows up when we play a good team like MSU. He was not the only one that seemed to be looking for somebody to block his shot when we drove. We are not big in the middle and we will have to work for our shots and make them when we get those chances.

In my opinion, it was all the mistakes and turnovers during the game that hurt us. I don't think you can single out 3 players and say that hurt us, heck Woodard, Heild, Hornbeak, and Cousins all had some plays that made alot of us go Ummmm

When does Neal ever dunk the ball?

I think there was a dunk contest one year that he won. That may be the only time.

Looking at the stat sheet, our bench was non-existent. Neal played a lot of minutes and didn't do anything worth mentioning. I know no one expects 10 points a game out of him or anything, but I always thought he would be a good guy to come in and give energy and hit a couple three's.

Tyler Neal's block shot that was a goaltend.... Sorry the dude is awful..

I would contend it was the final 5 minutes of the first half where OU didn't score. I still haven't watched the second half but it seems to me OU won the rest of the game.

Bigtime, the plays you mention were the critical plays in the game for me as well. In my opinion, the sequence where Neal doesn't just shoot an uncontested layup, but goes "harlem globetrotter" on us, then follows that with essentially 2 consecutive turnovers, was the turning point in the game for me.

This being said, I dont' think Tyler is an "awful" play, as some have stated. He has played well all year until the MSU game. I don't think anyone, other than Cam, played particular well against MSU.

Generally, you shouldn't expect to upset the number one team in the country with as many turnovers and missed free throws as we had. In addition, it is hard to beat a good team when there is such a disparity in 3s.

I came away encouraged from the MSU game. We will not play anyone the rest of the year that is as talented and deep in the post as MSU. MSU combines incredible inside talent with a collection of guards that can really shoot the 3. They may win the National championship.

I like the rotation Lon is using right now and if we can keep everyone healthy and get some improvement from everyone as we go, I could see us matching last years win total. Although, we could be better this year and not match last year due to the difficulty of the B12. Kansas, OSU, Baylor and Iowa State look really really good to me.

Maybe I'm belaboring the point, but we need to learn how to properly position ourselves defensively so as to create charges by the opposing team's offensive possessions. While preventing opponent's scores it also puts the other team in foul trouble so it has dual consequences. I remember Osby was quite good at taking charges.

sheepdog, you make a funny point, but one that is really true.

We can score with anybody in the country right now (Ken Pom has us as the 28th ranked offense with the 22nd ranked tempo), but we've got to nut up on defense. I wouldn't be upset if we worked on our zone defense for every practice the rest of 2013. If we can stop the other team from getting wide open threes in the zone, then we can be very successful.

The players constantly say he is one of the best athletes on the team. Every guy voting is a really good athlete.

I keep hearing this, yet I think I've only seen him dunk 3 or 4 times in 4 year. The only one that stands out in my mind was in Maui under Capel when we lost to Chaminade. Neals dunking ability is like bigfoot, people say it exists but no one has actually seen it.
