Last night Lauren Cox's volleyball team had a good volleyball game in which they came back from a deficit to win. Here is the post I am referring to which was retweeted by Lauren Cox:

molly werts ‏@mcwerts13 8h

For all of those who are confused-we were down 22-12 in the fourth game AND CAME BACK to win 27-25. THAT is why I am so proud of my girls.

This was tweeted by Lauren Cox:

LC☀️ ‏@lauren_cox15 9h

Still bouncing off the walls bc of our game tonight!!!!!

Shortly after that Karen Aston posted:

Karen Aston ‏@CoachKarenA 8h

Comebacks are something to be proud of...sign of mental toughness!

She used Twitter to let the team know she was following them and offered some encouraging comments without violating NCAA rules. Outstanding job of using social media by Aston.

I do like the fact that Chad, Pam, Maddie, and Dungee all are following Lauren on Twitter.

I know I don't fit in with the social media crowd, because I'm not all that crazy about it, however, what a great way to reach out to kids and stay in contact with them and show interest. I don't know how in today's environment, a head coach would not take advantage of every tool possible to recruit and show kids you are following their exploits in other sports or keeping in social contact.

roc, yet as of today
Sherri = zero twitter presence

I know, and as I fight the change, I succumb to it because of my family is so involved and my former players reach out. So either get with the program or live in a cave. I half heartedly join the program. Sherri needs to get over it and do the same. Its fine that her assistants embrace social media and are active following and tweeting, the kids she and they are recruiting want to hear from the Head Duck not the second in command. May be why we end up in second place on a lot of recruits.

It is interesting you mentioned that. I read just the other day that top players are not impressed when a third assistant shows up at their events particularly when other head coaches are there.

Recruiting is sales and you have to be all in.
Bob learned that lesson the hard way.
He's changed his stance and involvement in recruiting completely.

I will give Sherri her due when it comes to appearing at kid's games. When I went to see Dungee in the Area tournament this past season, Sherri was 4 rows down from me and stayed for all of Chelsea's game, through over time. Sherri does a good job I think of attending games when she can, she just needs to get all of the tools together to be more effective. At least as a recruit I would be more interested if coaches used social media to let me know they were interested.

Cori Close at UCLA also does a good job of reaching out throught Twitter. Mossman at Tulsa is becoming fairly active as well.
