Nick Thompson- Good 3pt shooter
Tyler Neal- Good 3pt shooter
Andrew Fitzgerald- Good midrange shooter
Barry Honore- Good 3pt shooter
CJ Washington- Dont know

Are we really considering Tyler a "big man". I figured him more of a big guard or small forward. I have never seen him play so I might be way off if so I apologize.

He is a 3-4, but I think he is more at an advantage at the 4 spot. Not sure he can defend a guard.

Barry isn't on the team but he is working out with it. He was kicked off the team several months ago when he quit. He's going to take up one of the schollies next year when he walks on, but fortunately he is going to be a body we practice with who is not on the team. He should be able get some quality minutes, even though he won't be around.

I see what you're doing.

I think you have a good read on some of the posters, except for the part where they follow your good advice.

Who is saying they are going to be great? Big just said they look to be good shooters. I have seen no one call them "great".

seems i saw that Nick Thompson was a 68% FT shooter. while not utterly dreadful, I'm not sure I want to give a guy the green light for his 3 stroke if he's not even 70% from the line.

I agree with you. After what happened last year with the burger boys, I'm not going to get too excited about the current group of guys coming in until I see them perform in a game. If they just show up and practice hard that will be an improvement over what we had last year.

I don't want to watch anymore video clips of the guys playing horse or pretending to play defense in practice. The practice clips posted last year should have been a red flag for all of us. I hope the new JUCO guys turn out to be more productive than CW, RW, OA, etc. We need hardworking, LEGITIMATE D1 college basketball players on the team not warm bodies that take up space.

You know it's going to come. You have have on the boards long enough. Use the force Luke.

I've been around message boards for years and have helped this one since the inception. This board does not equal other boards. I've seen no one even hint at this team being great.

I think I read somewhere where he was about a 39% 3-point shooter...and if that is true then he SHOULD have the green light. What I like about that is he can pull a big defender away from the basket.

Not that I am a genius or know more than Capel or anyone else, I coach high school basketball (and have some college experience as an assistant)...but our offense that we run, we try to find a bigger kid who can shoot the three and use him to pop to the corners and the top of the key to draw defenders out. If they don't come out we shoot the three and if they do we will put it on the floor. I look for hybrid-type kids who are probably closer to bigger guards than true posts. (the one I have right now is about 6'4" and LOOOOOONNNNNNG....probably about a 6'7"-6'8" wing span and he hit 57 threes last year). Would love to see a guy like Thompson, who is supposedly pretty athletic pop out and hit the three occasionally but be quick enough to get by some of the big, traditional posts. It would cause a nice matchup problem.
