Anyone With A Link to the Virginia Boards

LOVED how UMBC stuck it down UVa's throat near every time they tried that full court trap in the second half. It was a beautiful example of smart basketball. A clinic. Dave Odom's son should receive major praise.

How long till we see a thread calling for Joe C to fire Lon, and hire Odomes for $40,000 plus some major incentives?

I'm actually not one who normally spends any time on other message boards. However, I went to two of them this year. The first was after we beat Kansas, and I got educated on how ridiculously angry and unrealistic Kansas fans were.

The second was just now...and I have to admit that I'm impressed with how well the Virginia fans took this. Yes, of course there are no shortage of meltdown posts, but nothing what I expected. There were some Virginia Tech trolls, but not a lot of piling on from other fan bases. Of course, I may not have their top hoops board, either.

Any time you see someone who has picked up a group like that and made some accomplishment then it's worth checking their tree. Here you have Dave Odom's kid and he might have hidden talent or some jewel of an assistant on his staff. Same with that Buffalo coach a couple of days back. He had a good rapport with his kids (he was HS coach to a few) and who knows what was in his tree.

You can't just poo poo the idea that some young coach who does something major can gain a teen players interest perhaps more than an older coach with a more substantial pedigree. We have to embrace some of these new trees of coaches and branch into a few ourselves so we can grow with the sport and the players' interests.

Virginia lost by 20 points to Baltimore County.

That proves that Virginia did not belong in The Dance. lol

The UMBc kids were overlooked by the big local schools like Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland. To beat the crap out of an ACC school is the ultimate victory for those kids. Then you add the 16 beating a 1 and it doesn’t get any better.

I was told OU should be more like Tony Bennett's Virginia, where we play defense and don't play offense. I guess posters on here would be elated with getting beat by a 16 seed playing that style as well, and never making a final four.

definitely....coaching is a "good ol boys" network. I'd definitely look in other areas...realistically coaching basketball is not rocket science..as far as x's and o's...there is only so much that can be done.

It's getting the kids to gell, to me college is getting like the pros, managing egos.

Overlooked? They got smashed by Vermont twice. They played out of their minds & Virginia had a ton of breakdowns defensively (without their best defender) that they rarely make & played bad offensively. The upset was amazing but don't act like that team wouldn't have got last behind Pitt if they were in the ACC.

we should MOST DEFINITELY be more like Tony Bennett's teams. Sorry but your analysis is horrid.

Let me try a hand at it ... I didnt see you at the anti-cancer rally last night. You must be for cancer.

Matthew G - he's for cancer. Dont listen to anything he says.

I was not commenting about where they belonged, simply that they were not seriously considered by the big schools. Where do you get that I think they could compete in the ACC or any powerfive conference.?

I took overlooked as they should've been at the power 5 schools. My mistske

You can call me whatever you like, doesn't change the fact that your last month of posts are starting to make you look like a troll.

ahh, a troll. first I am unreasonable because I dislike criticizing Ty getting a scholarship. Now I am a troll because I am overcritical. just can't satisfy all of you at once. so I dont try.
