OU moves up a spot to #7...right behind Duke and Kansas even though they both lost. OU was flat out better than ku last season and returned just as much or more. Also Mich state moves up to #3 (from 13) after a close win over ku without their best player (diallo) being eligible...of course isu jumps up past the one loss teams but not ou. What a joke.

Unfortunately sports journalism is not a profession that attracts America's best and brightest.

Unfortunately the national communists against athletes doesnt attract the best and the brightest(or even the competent serving as an illustration of the Peter Principle).

I can't get too worked up about OU's basketball ranking before Thanksgiving. #7 is fine with me. It should be a good test against #8 Villanova on December 7th at Pearl Harbor. Wisconsin on Sunday will be fun, too. We have only played 2 games. I'm waiting for our post play to evolve and a few more games against tougher competition before making an argument for a higher ranking.

I like our guards. Both the starters and the backups. Spangler is very steady in the post, but if I had to grade the other post players as a group (Lattin, Buford, McNeace, and Manyang) I would give them a C- at best. It's early in the season but we need someone to pull away from the pack. I'm just looking for mostly things that don't show up in the box score: contesting shots, blocking out, getting rebounds, setting screens, helping out, proper spacing, smart passing, staying active, playing smart, etc. Any scoring would be a bonus.

I agree. I don't get so worked up about the rankings, though I do sometimes squawk a little. This year, I'm really not worrying about it all. I'm very glad we started in the top ten and I hope we can stay there, but with our tough schedule, it won't be easy.

7 is a good spot right now. There will be enough name games coming up (including Sunday) to launch the Sooners into the top 5 if the team keeps winning!

How can anyone say with a straight face OU was flat out better than Kansas at basketball last year? They won the conference for what the 10th year in a row last year.

We split with them, made it further in the tournament, and finished the year ranked higher in the AP poll.

I agree it isn't clear-cut, but I would also say we had a better year than KU a year ago.

And KU got some SERIOUS home cooking in at least a couple of home games. That happens so frequently in Lawrence that we take it for granted, we almost foirget to object. But if you're going to seriously assess KU's superiority, it's a factor that must be considered, especially in a season that sees a conference race as tight as last year's.

Yes this...I think all the other bigs improve but it may take a couple months before Spangler gets to rest in tough games.

Everyone in the country had ou ranked higher at the end of the season, so that's good enough for me. You don't get to play the NCAA tournament games at Allen field house.

Having said that, after ku's performance this week, I have no problem with them being ranked ahead of ou because they played great. Also them getting diallo factors in there too. I still think ou is better but we haven't proven
too much this season.
