this is just ... stunning. Every fan of NCAA-sanctioned college sports needs to be on top of this one.

WHY in the heck is the NCAA potentially sanctioning US when they are getting away with this kind of crap?

Schools need to get together and say "enough". If OVERSIGHT is supposed to protect all of us from anything then this is obviously numero uno.

These guys need to go to prison and the NCAA schools need to receive millions upon millions in restitution.

Here is the Fiesta bowl story about Junker:

I do not understand why the BCS conferences don't just leave the NCAA and form a new governing body and then envite everyone else to join. The new organization could provide for due process rights, speedy trials and appellate rights. It could have standardized penalties (with some discretion - discretion is important for decision makers not all things that at first appear the same are the same).

Coaches could and should be held more accountable for violations that occur under their watch and the penatlies could actually follow the coach (they should stay at the original school too but it is ridiculous that Sampson leaves OU and Indiana has no sanctions until he broke the rules again).

It could allow for reasonable employment by the student athletes as well as a reasonable monthly allowance for spending money. How can anyone realistically say that football players at schools like OU and Texas are not entitled to a few hundred bucks a month? They are making the schools millions, they should be able to buy groceries, gasoline and an occassional meal out.

The entire thing could be done so much better. Bottom line is too many people are getting rich off the current system so they resist change.

Have you noticed that the NCAA is now running adds telling us what they do with the money? I sure believe those adds. I am sure that organization (like all large organizations) is not full of over paid administrators.
