Arena Talk

buying the tickets only gets you like 1 point the same as a hundred dollar donation .... there is no real link for the tickets except ..

the soonerclub levels are across all sports and most of the big donors for football tickets are at a high enough level to buy good basketball seats if they want them ..... maybe do just to have seats for the games they want to attend and to support the school

This.
I have never understood the perception that people donate and buy basketball tickets just to improve their football points.

It is actually a detriment to buy basketball tickets vs. donating, as one could take the $500(+) used to buy tickets and just straight donate and get 15 points vs. zero for that same $500.

But like Boulder stated, there are those that buy basketball tickets as a part of a larger donation in order to watch the top games, and don't care about the 12 other games.

9 mil dollar renovation for mens and womens locker rooms and team areas at LNC will be approve this week by the regents

So, they’re just gonna pour more money into that dump LNC? Depressing.

Thanks for setting me straight. I've heard that for years but never knew if it was true.

Even if a new arena is built, the practice facilities will remain in place. These changes are all related to locker rooms and meeting areas which they’ll need for practice. Nothing is being done that will become redundant.

I do remember last year they approved a new video board, but that hasn’t happened yet (and could probably be moved to any new arena).

For the love of God can we please paint the Orange seats to match the crimson cushion ones. Please! It is such a damn eye sore on tv

At best it is a dull version or Nebraska red but I think it's scarlet.

I think one word in the topic says it all....Talk

Yes, on the seats. They just don't look right on TV.

I can understand a reluctance to build a new arena, given the level of fan support, honestly.

I'm not aware of cbk specific peer-reviewed research, but more generalized studies of professional sports estimate sizable increases in attendance from new arenas in the first year, but the effect begins to decline in year two. The long-term boost to attendance is modest. It also might not result in a big revenue boost, if a primary source of new butts in seats is the existing ticket holders who often don't use their seats currently.

There are way more issues than the quality of the team. Game times is a huge issue, as a former mens and women's bball season ticket holder, game times was a huge problem and a major reason for giving up the tickets. I still donate the money I was giving- my basketball tickets were donor level, my women's were grandfathered in since I had had them so long. All weeknight home games used to be at 7 except the occasional 8 pm Big Monday. Now they are routinely at 8 or 6. If you live and work in Edmond it's tough to get to Norman by 6, especially considering traffic. And if the game is at 8, that's a late night getting home if you have to get up and go to work the next morning . And Saturday games at 11 am or 5 pm? Of course TV rules via the almighty dollar.
This year for example-
Florida 8:30
Iowa State 6
W Va 1100 am
OSU 8 pm
KSU 8 pm
Tech 8 pm

But our away games- KSU, W Va TCU all at 7
If the schedule on the app is correct not a single home conference game at 7 p
I say if its correct, because the app says the Ark game in Tulsa is at 7- it isn't. It's at noon

Girls are just as bad- 3 weeknight conference home games - all at 6, none at 7
4 weeknight conference away games, 3 at 7 and 1 at 6:30. Doesn't make any sense

It's orange

This is orange. If you really can't tell the difference, you need to get your eyes checked.

It will be interesting to see if there are changes to game times when we change conferences.

My guess is not much of a change. ESPN is pretty entrenched in the 6/8 TV windows and they broadcast all of the SEC games. We may skew a bit more toward 8 as there are three schools in ET compared to one in the present Big 12 setup.

That said, there may be fewer spots on an ESPN Network for SEC games given the number of teams, meaning some get pushed to ESPN+/SECN+ -- there is more flexibility for 7pm tip offs on streaming platforms. And OU definitely prefers 7pm, as all of the non conference ESPN+ games are at 7pm.

espn also loses all big 10 games .. so the windows will still be there just conf games on some different nights
