Assistant Coaches ?

I would think we might be hearing something soon? Portal news?
 
Allison Pohlman was just named new head coach at Drake, so I expect Coach JB to bring in an all new staff...

I’m more interested in seeing if Kierra Collier will follow Coach JB to Oklahoma from Drake... she hit the portal recently... when will have 3 point guards on the roster next year so I wouldn’t say it’s a big need for us, Tatum played better off the ball, Tot showed flashes of being a good one for us, but at her size she does have her limits, and Washington will be a freshman and I’m not sure if she ever played point guard or if she’s more of an undersized shooting guard... so having a player like Collier who will know the system that Coach JB will likely be running, and who can shoot the 3 consistently wouldn’t be a bad addition to the roster.
 
Although we don't have as much need at pg as we do the forward/center spots, I'd welcome her with open arms. She'd most likely make an immediate impact with her athleticism and experience.

My questions are:
when will coach name her assistants (not that they made much difference under SC, so it may not exactly matter who they are)
When will we hear about any transfers??

Moser has already brought in 3 new players since he was hired less than 1 month ago!

I don't know.

The timeline for Moser was:

Select assistants
Have them vetted by OU (background checks)
Announce Assistants
Announce transfers

I read that Moser was talking to possible transfers early in the process before the assistants were announced.

It seems like there is always less info about women's recruiting than men's.

I can see Collier also coming to Oklahoma to follow Jennie.
 
Michael Neal looking like a likely candidate to join the staff.

It is rumored Jessie Mercer is gone. Also potentially Nydia Lampkin having opted out last season. But if both return the above list comprises 15 scholarship players with no room for Collier without some major roster changes.

I still think Mercer is gone and it is a flip of a coin on Lampkin. And perhaps speculation is warranted on several others. Interesting few weeks ahead until thinks shakeout.

Dee is definitely in, she was on campus and in the meet and greet with Coach JB, I didn’t see Murcer or Dunbar, so without them that would bring the roster size to 14... I’m not sure if the allowed limit will be more then 15 or not due to Covid... if not I would be all for being in Collier, if not I think the focus should be on grabbing a player with real size out of the portal, Madi shouldn’t be playing center same with Vann yet I would likely go with Vann over Scott who has a tendency to foul a lot and I would say all 3 of them are about 5’10... Dee is actually 6’1, but she’s still not a scorer. Heavenly Is raw and looks like more of a face up player, Emma played at a lower division in high school so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her take a while to get the hang of the college game... we could really use a player who could start at center next season.. I would like to see us add Aaliyah Patty 6’3 transfer from Ohio state.
 
We need a proven quality post player...particularly for interior defense and rebounding. That has to be the priority from the portal...if Jennie can get that recruiting coup and keep the key guards we are a tourney level team in her first year.
 
Rumor has it, Greer is in the portal. Hoped she would stick around and try to develop, but perhaps academics were a problem.
 
I can't figure out who Dee and Emma are. Help please.

I always thought Bo was critical in how well the teams did while he was there. I may be wrong.

I believe one thing we have to consider when talking about how players have played is that that is one of the reasons some of us wanted a new coach is because Sherri wasn't coaching or developing them. I realize some may have thought it was just her lack of recruiting. Not sure everyone here wanted her gone.

And will add I have nothing personal against the coach and certainly not her son. How did he do any worse than the other coaches, unless he did in fact push a player and that I would have an issue with and expect some suspension, anger management classes, etc, depending on exactly what if anything happened. As for his coaching, did he have any more input than the other assistants and associates?

I may be mistaken, but the player he pushed was playing at the Final Four. How did that go sideways that we lost her?
