So OU had a scrimmage last weekend and the ladies had one on Thursday. There was also a seperate pep rally for the football team at Gaylord this week. All three of those events drew a couple thousand fans.
I'd like to see those events combined in some form or fashion (if not a football pep rally at least get Bob Stoops and a player or two to pump up the crowd). Maybe even have the alumni game tied in (big success this year with over 4K there).
My reasoning is that we could have 10K plus (just like OSU did in the picture below) if we did it right which could benefit all three of the top sports on campus by allowing all three to host recruits.
OSU had Gundy talk, had the Greeks there (see all the matching shirts that made up most of their attendance), had the men's and women's introductions and had a large list of recruits at the game. I'd like to see us do something similar instead of thinning out our fans. Recruits aren't going to know that half are there to hear Bob or that a fourth are there to see Morgan Hooke. They are just going to enjoy the large crowd...Just all those aggie recruits hadn't a clue that most of those fans were there for other things (Gundy, Greek awards, etc...).
Just a thought.
The mistake that we made before was that we gave the Greeks too much stage time. Just have them there to announce their awards and leave the rest of the focus to OU athletics....(don't announce 'em until the end...).
