Baylor gets #28 5 Star Caitlyn Bickle

I posted this on the thread about their other commit, N'lyssa Smith. Bickle was down to Cal and Baylor and omitted Cal last week. Took a day or two to commit to Baylor. #28 HoopGurlz, #77 Prospect Nation.

HoopGurlz likes those Baylor commits. When ours committed to us, she fell from about #23 to #78. But, Prospect Nation has her at #8.

Bickle will be hit or miss, idk if she really has a position, kind of thin to be a power forward, not quick enough to be a wing, time will tell, she is a decent ball handler tho, at least for the high school level...

It’s being reported on the Baylor board that both DeCosta and HSG are picking Baylor... not sure if true but it would be that much harder to beat Baylor, I’m a big fan of DeCosta and will followed her college progress no matter where she goes, she could lead her conference in rebounding...

If true not sure how they will play DeCosta and Smith together but it’s a problem OU would love to have I’m sure.

I think the Baylor board always thinks they will get everyone. The South Carolina boards were also quite confident of DeCosta after her visit with Christyne Williams. The threesome that went there had a good time. UConn is in on some of these, and they have no commits yet. Ohio State is a player for one. I saw that the Texas boards are also reporting that the two will commit to Baylor on Tuesday. The Texas boards tend to be sane.

Right now, I don't know what Baylor could do to top the Texas class which is exactly what Texas needs to counter their difficulties with Baylor. I rather like OU's class, and I don't know that we are done. All three will do OK.

I am rather surprised at the lack of UConn or Ohio State commits.

Ohio st hasn’t been a hot bed in recruiting recently... Much like Dawn Staley the Ohio st coach got one great player to stay home, and then added transfers to become more competitive...

Uconn I wouldn’t be that worried about, After signing a Top class last year with 4 kids ranked in the top 30 and 3 of them played in high school All American games, it’s no shock that up until last month Geno had a class of one, kids want to win but they also want a chance to play, that’s why I’m surprised Baylor is getting some many good players...

I think Uconn will be ok, I expect them to land Williams.

Both DeCosta and Scott-Grayson picked Baylor, OU will need to sign Jones and Amihere in 2019 to keep up with the bears, and Longhorns...

I’m a fan of DeCosta and know she liked OU up until the last minute, she’s an outstanding rebounder for her height....

Baylor now has four from HoopGurlz top 100.

Baylor just lost:

Nina Davis
Khadijah Cave
Alexis Jones
Alexis Prince
Beatrice Mompremier (transfer)

They just lost their #2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 scorers. They also lost about half their rebounds.

They did make it to the Elite Eight.

Are the four they are getting better than the four that they lost?

Yes the 2018 class of Baylor will probably have 2-3 pro players... but I don’t think Scott-Grayson will play 4 years at Baylor and if she does what will happen with Morris who picked UCLA, then was convicted to change back to Baylor.

Baylor lost out on Taylor Chavez, 5-9 G Surprise Valley Vista, AZ, 2018, who committed to Oregon. #60 HoopGurlz.

The Baylor fans say Chavez lost out on Baylor, as in she was a backup plan in case they missed out on Scott-Grayson...

Smith, DeCosta, and Scott-Grayson is a great group for Baylor to have and you can’t blame the fans for think Championships. But Scott-Grayson has played for 4 high school teams in 4 years, and will be dealing with Morris for playing time. I’m not sure she will make it a full 4 years at Baylor, but only time will tell...

4 DeCosta
8 Smith
18 Scott-Grayson
28 Bickle

Chavez 60

Prospect Nation
2 DeCosta
4 Smith
5 Scott-Grayson
77 Bickle

53 Chavez

OU HoopGurlz--Prospect Nation
Madison Williams 77-8
Tatum Veitenheimer UR-23

Nydia Lampkin UR-150

I find it interesting that Smith went up rather dramatically when it appeared that she was headed to Baylor. In contrast, Madison Williams dropped like a rock in HoopGurlz. Same thing happened last year.

If Baylor wasn't interested in Chavez, why were they still recruiting her? They remained in the Amanda Brown race as long as possible. See a point guard anywhere? Scott-Grayson is it, and she's a combo with a scorer's mentality. Baylor has wings on top of wings.

Add #15 Queen Egbo to their list. They'll be nearly unstoppable for a while I fear.

Sure is one heck of a class, Kim will have to get them to play together... a few seem to have strong personalities, and when you can’t get 15-17 shots in a game, how will they react...

That is the reservation I have with this class, but we sure need it cuz this season we are very thin with just 9 on the roster. If anyone can get them motivated its Kim and they are in the right place to get a conference ring! Sic'em!!

I hate seeing this because I don't think it does anything for the women's game. In order for the game to thrive there needs to be parity and not just the same teams winning every year, in my opinion anyway. I hope that at least UT (needless to say hopefully OU) can hang with them in the next few years, but Kim M. is a great coach and on top of great recruits, who knows.

I feel like OU just needs one breakout year again where they make a run to the Elite 8 and that will help their recruiting prospects in the future.

All in the eyes of the beholder. For certain no Sooner fans wants to see parity in Big 12 football where the Sooners fall from the top of the conference. Nor would Kansas fans want to see the same in MBB. Virtually no one would consider OU football or Kansas basketball bad for the Big 12. Baylor in WBB is no different.

Parity in the sport is always the goal of those on the outside looking in. No question we need a breakout year and a top national finish for more than just one season to get our recruiting where it needs to be so we can be a serious consistent championship contender. And without signing a top national difference maker that is several years into the future.

The way you achieve parity in the real world is roll your sleeves up, bust your backside and get better. Fortunately recruiting has improved but still has a ways to go. But we shouldn't begrudge Baylor for doing a better job than the Sooners. Instead we must do what is necessary to become their equal as it appears Texas is trying to do. Otherwise we need to roll over, acquiesce and accept that we are who we have become. Like it or not.

I notice that Queen Egbo also committed to Baylor making it five of the top 30. We'll see how that plays out.

When Texas has a great class, I tend to appreciate it. Baylor---I tend to look at the Baylor commit with a bit less pride. I just don't see going to Baylor or wanting to play for Kim. The last time she had a team of recruits that never would be beaten, she won one title in four years. We'll see how she does this time. OU and Texas may both be a bit more competitive.

Griner was a game changer, but some of Kim's best teams were fast with undersized post... I think DeCosta and Smith will remind some of the Young and Wabara front court.

Yes OU has gotten better with recruiting, but we still need that 1 or 2 consensus top 10 player to make a run at a big 12 title...
