Don't care about atmosphere, it's all about the grub. Wife is tagging along with me, and she isn't a fan of the wonderment that is BBQ. It's her only flaw. :) Regardless, I'm only going be able to drag her to one BBQ place, so I got one shot.

I've only eaten at Arthur Bryant's up there and thought it was pretty good. Oklahoma Joe's gets a lot of pub though.

Only one shot? I'd suggest Arthur Bryant's if she were a true BBQ fan because that place is incredible. But if you need a little more varied menu I'd suggest Oklahoma Joe's.

Jack's Stack is OK.
Never been to Gates.

But those sandwiches at Arthur Bryant's........WHOO BOY!

Arthur Bryants got a mention in another thread I posted on another board. Probably should have added it to the poll.
Right now, Oklahoma Joe's is the leading contender with LC's close behind.

Yeah, of course the first two days, I'm going to be so busy, I won't feel like going anywhere after the games, anyway, plus the Big 12 puts on a pretty good feed in the media room. P

Been to and have taken friends/clients to Arthur B's, Ok Joes, Gates, Jack Stacks and many others in KC (Zarda's etc..) and Oklahoma Joes always comes out on top. Great sauces and great cuts of meat.

My wifes and I second favorite would be Arthur Bryants (their pulled pork is great).

If your looking for a very nice place for dinner (ie..great atmosphere and popular location) then Jack stacks is good, but never been that big of a fan of their BBQ (cuts seem fatty). Buts its been a while since i've been back there.

RJ's in the Overland Park, KS area is great. They were on Diner and Dives last year. You won't be disappointed. Here is their address:

5835 Lamar
Mission, KS 66202
913-262-7300

It is around Metcalf and Johnson Dr.

Arthur's, tradition.

Oklahoma Joe's is pretty good.

Jack Stack in JoCo Q (at least say my KC friends)...

Jack Stack is really good. They have amazing beans. It is a little upscale for barbeque, but everything I have ever had has been amazing. If you want a traditional barbeque Bryants and Gates are both good options. All of the three are better than anything we have in the OKC area.

I used to say Jack Stack's was #1, but then I had Oklahoma Joe's a few months back and it's not even close.

The only problem with Okie Joes, you have to get there right at 11 am or you will be in line forever and a day. Or, you go at like 2 pm after the rush is over, but then you won't get any burnt ends.

After Okie Joes and Jack Stacks, Arthur Bryants is really good, their meat could be better than the other 2, but I don't like their sauce. Gates is after that and probably tied with Zarda. Both are good though.

Shooter...did you get a hotel room downtown?

You created a thread a few weeks back, and I replied with the ones in the P&L and just outside the P&L. Just curious if you were able to secure a room.

Jack Stacks in JoCo is the only one I've been to besides Gates...very good.

I ended up booking in the Hyatt Crown Center. It is the media hotel and it showed all booked when I first did my search. It was booked because it is the media hotel and they had reserved a block for that reason. It's not ideal because of location, but they will be running a shuttle for the media members, and the Big 12 treats the media really well. I'm not going to have a lot of time to do a lot in P&L anyway. I'm shooting every team in every game, so the first two days are going to be a grind of shooting, editing, transmitting on deadline...rinse and repeat.

Speaking of BBQ, anyone else been to Jiggs in Clinton, OK?
The Pig Sickle is a thing of beauty.

I went to Jack Stacks after watching OU beat Michigan in the NCAA tourney 2 years ago, and then again before a Cardinals/Royals game this summer. Their beef tips and ribs are damn good.

Went to KC last July, had Oklahoma Joes and Arthur Byrants. Both are amazing.

My top 5...

1) Gates
2) OK Joes
3) Jack Stacks
4) Zarda's
5) LC's
