-112-24 in four seasons
-Never missed the NCAA tournament
-Came within a couple points of beating Duke for the National Championship
-No NCAA baggage
-Only 34 years old

When we hand Capel his walking papers, we should make a very strong push for this guy. He has done nothing but win at Butler. According to Wikipedia, his is from Indiana and his mom was a professor at Butler, so I'm guessing he is very loyal to that school and he may not be interested in leaving for a reclamation project. Furthermore, Indiana is a basketball crazed state and I'm sure his program has terrific fan support and facilities. All that being said, money talks and we could probably pay him way more than Butler ever could.

If he left Butler for OU, my wife would probably not speak to me again!!

on second thought, GO GET HIM!

Nevermind. I am going to go ahead and torpedo my own thread because I didn't do enough research. After last season, Stevens signed a 12 year contract extension with Butler. Yes, I said 12 years. He has no intention of leaving that place. Even if he did, his buyout is probably astronomical.

The AD at Butler is Barry Collier who was Nebraskas coach before Sadler. He was the next big name in coaching when he was head coach at Butler about 10 years ago. Then, 5 years later he's out of a job.

So, I'm sure Collier has preached to Stevens about what he has at Butler and how good he has it.

Thad Matta.

Stevens isn't leaving anytime in the near future...now if Castiglione wants to hire me so I can be the next Brad Stevens, we can probably work that out.

he has a huge buyout and FYI no decision has been made about Jeff

Matta is actually the only ex-Butler coach who has been successful at a BCS level institution. Lickliter was fired at Iowa and Collier resigned but was about to be fired at Nebraska.

Come on Chewy spill it!!!
I would say yes. However I have been in the hospital (car accident) and been a little bit out of the loop. The situation is fluid would not suprise me either way at this time. The NCAA situation will weigh heavy on the ultimate decision

Thad was successful at Xavier before going to Ohio State. His stop at Butler was right before Xavier.

I know, just saying there are expample for both outcomes.

Thad Matta did in one year what Barry Collier couldn't do in 10 at Butler.

Some SEC and ACC schools tried to get Butler last year (including Clemson and Wake Forest)...he isn't going anywhere any time soon. If he wanted to jump ship and go somewhere bigger, last year was his major window.
