What the hell was that guy thinking? Illinois is awful for a 2nd straight year, and I'd have to imagine he's on the hot seat.

It's always been confounding to me that teams close to the Chicago area can't field better squads. Teams like Illinois, Marquette, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and, to a lesser extent, small schools like Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, and Bradley should have more ballers on their squad. Chicago is a pretty good basketball town that is talent-rich. Although Loyola had a great run last year or the year before...I think.

I don't what is wrong with Illinois....they have been a bad program since Bruce Weber left.

Depaul as well.

Depaul as well.

I was a big DePaul fan back in the Ray Meyer days. According to Joey Meyer it's easier to recruit TO Chicago than it is within Chicago. I say DePaul is just decrepit these days as well. Illinois should have good teams most of the time I agree but there is something amiss in their athletic department. I think they might emphasize academics more than athletics!!

Not a zero sum game. It is quite possible to do both. In any event, the Illinois athletic fans are not happy.

I know it can be. I just like to advance that thought with the fans who say "they've never been very good athletically".

They were a dominant team with Cummings and Aguirre.

Illinois football and basketball continue to baffle...

Lovie Smith somehow still has a job (unless something has changed recently), and they will likely be on the coaching search again... Brad Underwood is under some heat.

Seems like a good place to coach and play... Kind of that Missouri appeal that we Big 8/Big 12 fans are used to. They "should" be good but for some reason never are.

Right now its a place where careers go to die.

Who can blame anyone for getting out of Stoolwater?
