Buddy Hield 6th best player in America

Haha.....I like Buddy, but no way.

There isn't a person on this board, that if they were drafting teams from the college player population, that would draft Buddy 6th or better.

there is pretty close to 100% chance that he is a preseason 1st team AA

and if we have the season most think he will be a post season AA as well ..

Even if that is true, it doesn't mean he is the 6th best player in the country.

for the record I mostly agree with you .. if the criteria is nba talent ...

he will have a huge college impact next season...

Could you tell us non-insiders who the 5 players above him are?

Those 2 aren't the same thing. Oubre will be drafted ahead of where Buddy would have been drafted but there is no way that Oubre was anywhere close to the player Buddy was last year. The NBA drafts on potential. This is talking about who is the best right now.

Buddy Hield almost assuredly will be one of the 6 best players in CBB next year.

I'll put it this way; he is not one of the top 6 players entering 2015-16 right now but, if he improves and becomes the player I believe he can be, he will be a first team AA. He definitely is a top 10 guy and he and Baker are the best 2 guards returning to college next season. #6 seemed very reasonable at first but as I read some of the names listed behind him...I'm not so sure.

I believe we know just because your picked as the 6th best player doesn't mean your going to be drafted 6th. He just needs to be a first rd guy. He has a very good chance of being a first team AA.

I thought 6th seemed rather high, but I'm not blown away by guys like VanVleet at 3, either.

I concur! but your inference that being drafted 6th equates with being the 6th best CBP is wrong. It is two different games. I have doubts that Buddy is the sixth best in college basketball and he probably is not a first round draft choice.

But there is no doubt that he is one of the top basketball players in all of college basketball with a profitable pro career ahead of him although most probably abroad.

Read what I wrote.

I never mentioned in this post an NBA draft.

I'm simply saying if you gave every college team and empty roster, and had them draft players, Buddy would not be the 6th (or better) guy drafted. He wouldn't.

Useless list until the season is over. He is the reigning Big 12 PotY. He'll have a shot to be in the top 10 imo

Speaking of Big 12...

Rico Gathers is 17, Perry Eliis is 14, and Georges Niang is 11.

I don't feel like he's a #6 player in the country type player, but I'm having a hard time moving him down this list. I feel like I could just as easily move him up, as guys like VanVleet and Brogdon aren't that far ahead of him, if at all. If Niang is #11, I don't mind Hield at #6.

I will say this, a cursory glance of the list, and list of college players in general shows that it may be a down year in terms of talent, over the last couple of years. But I'm sure that will change once the season begins.

Buddy was a third team all-american last year, and only 1 first or second teamer returns to school (Brogdon from Va.). Kyle Wiltjer and Niang are back from teh third team with Buddy.

He's definitely going to be somewhere in the 5-10 range this year in terms of best players going into the season.
