Buddy's Kings debut

Any Buddy updates?? Thanks!

The Kings have been stinking it up. Buddy's been playing ok at times, but he's been inconsistent: He's scored 6, 12, 17, 8 and 21 points over their past five games.

De'Aaron Fox, who was getting so much love for a while, has put up 2, 10, 8, 11 and 10 over the same span.

Any Buddy updates?? Thanks!

Didn't have particularly good game last night, but in the previous 6 games he shot 33/65 from the field including 15/25 from 3 point range. He also had 36 rebounds, 14 assists and 9 steals in the same time span. He's been averaging close to 25 minutes in these 6 games.

Buddy has returned from his brief injury and scored 10 points last night in the win.

The fourth quarter of tonight's Clippers/Kings game was Buddy's best NBA moment yet. Unfortunately for him, Blake hit the game winner after Buddy tied it with a late three.

Buddy scored 27, on 10-of-18 shooting -- 7-of-9 from three -- with five rebounds, two assists and a block.

His plus/minus was -4.

Can we please stop citing that ridiculous stat? It's beyond meaningless.

Kevin Durant often has a negative number so that tells you how representative the number is, but some people are number pushers.

I would stop, but last night's game may have proved it was not irrelevant. Buddy only played 15 minutes, scored 5 points (only took 5 shots), but was -8 (Sacramento won by 4). The only other person on the team who also played 15 minutes was -6...my guess is that those two were probably not playing good defense and the coach took them out. I could be wrong, but the box score would indicate that stat was not entirely meaningless, at least for last night.

I’ve been watching Buddy’s stats and his plus-minus with some regularity and the latter does not reflect his stats than does. The example I cited the other night was just the latest of many recent examples.

I hope Buddy's defense continues to improve. Next step is becoming a better finisher. He shoots better outside the arc than he does inside.

My +/- numbers come from Basketball Reference. Durant was plus in 12 of his first 13 games this season. He only had one minus is all of last year's playoffs. Last year's season opener (-13) was the only double-digit under he posted all season.

Are you finding your numbers from a different site?

Espn indicates in the last 4 games he has played, all but one was negative.

Correct. I was under the impression you were implying it happens often as opposed to the cold streak he's currently riding.

Good game for Buddy tonight in a loss to the Bucks.

19 points in 29 minutes on 6-of-12 shooting (4-of-6 from behind the arc). He was 3-of-3 from the line with six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a turnover.

And for those keeping track, he was +11.

Thanks for posting that. It was a great bounce-back game after only playing 7 minutes (0 points) the night before. I don't pretend to be a coach, but not sure why he never got off the bench in the second half against the Bulls...just not a good way to handle a rotation. I've read stuff like this hundreds of times through the years. Players do not like situations which they have no idea of their PT from one game to the next.

I think Buddy needs to get used to the idea of being a guy who can get buckets off the bench for a team. That can make him a valuable 6th or 7th man in the league for a really long time, and I think that's the role he's most likely to find success in.

His PER is almost 17 and its climbing. He tends to put up good numbers when he gets 20+ minutes a game. He will be a valuable role player for the next 8 years.

He’s becoming a true sharp-shooter!

46% from 3 for the year

Buddy had 17 points in 25 points off the bench tonight (one less than the team high) in a close loss to Cleveland. He shot 7-of-13 (2-of-6) with four rebounds, three assists, three steals, one block, and three turnovers.

Coming off the bench is really agreeing with him. Would love to have him instead of abrines in OKC coming off the bench.
