Anyone know anything about him? I've heard he's teh best junior college player in the State out of Connors. He's a local kid from stringtown.
CSC players, coach honored
Phoenix Staff Reports
WARNER – Connors State College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will start defense of their 2009 Region II championships next week in Shawnee with the best players in the region on their rosters.
Oklahoma natives Magen Roth (Kellyville) and C.J. Washington (Stringtown) were named the Region’s Players of the Year by coaches during a meeting Friday in Shawnee. Connors coach Bill Muse was named Coach of the Year.
For Roth, the honor is sweet in the light that the sophomore missed nearly all of last season with a torn ACL that required season-ending surgery and a year of rehabilitation.
Roth averaged 15.4 points-per-game, shooting 49 percent from the field. She averaged 6.5 rebounds and just short of two assists and two steals per-outing.
"Magen has been our leader all year long," said Connors coach Eddie Kite. "She could have left after last season, but she felt she missed something in our run to the Nationals. After her injury, she was our cheerleader on the bench for every game we played. You could tell she wanted to be out there."
Indeed she did.
In a preseason interview back in October she said, "I’ve got some personal things I want to accomplish this year that I didn’t get to experience last season.”
Washington, one of the elite junior college players in the nation this year, average 19.3 points-per-game and double-digit in rebounds, 12.6. The 6-foot 7 post was named the "National Player of the Week" three weeks ago, averaging 25 points a game and 14 rebounds over four games.
"He has been a rock for is," Muse said. "We’re not just a one-man team, but he has been a leader. He always played big in the clutch."
Like Roth, Washington said just prior to the season that losing in the National semifinals was bitter-sweet.
"We had a good season just to get there, but it wasn’t any fun losing our final two games (one being the third place contest). I definitely want to go back to Hutch."
Muse downplayed his honor.
"Good players and a good staff (assistant Jeff Johnson) make a coach look good," Muse said. "I’m fortunate to have both. It’s a team thing, a team honor."
Seedings for the upcoming Region II Tournament were also announced. The tournament winners advance to the NJCAA National Tournaments on March 16-22. The men will play in Hutchison, Kan., and the women in Salina, Kan.
I'm going to find out more about this guy. If he's the best Juco player in the state and also a native Oklahoman, I'd be all for that as long as he has the skill set.
stringtown huh? ive been through there once while having a tour of the prison
BTW, Antione Lundy was a juco player that was mentioned on the board a while back. I looked him up and was really impressed, at least stat-wise. So I emailed his juco coach to see if OU was showing any interest, and he said that a lot of Big 12 schools were looking at him but OU wasn't.
You would think we would be hearing more juco names popping up attached to OU at this point, especially with this latest Tiny news, but we really haven't other than N'Diaye.

Washington led Connors to the National Tounament in Hutchinson with an 18pt, 20rb game.

Seems as if this guy is a high end rebounder. To me, that is more valuable than any point production he has the potential of having. I've talked to him and he said there has been some, but little interest shown by OU's staff. Said he currently has offers by Murray State and Sam Houston State. Said he is holding out hope that major schools will catch wind of his play during the national tournament. Seems to be very dedicated to basketball and has only one goal in mind right now and that's winning the Juco NC. He said he'll worry about recruiting till after that. Sounds like a real winner.
I'm not a guy that's huge into stats telling the story, but I don't believe in any situation that Ray Willis, Orlando Allen, Kyle Cannon, or Kyle Hardrick could ever have a 21pt 26rb game like he had in the semi finals. He atleast is worth an inquiry.
If you look around the big12 their are more guys similar to Washington playing than Aziz. I recognize Aziz has major upside, but anyone who views him as a major contributor intially is mistaken.
So lets get them both! We need an immediate rebounder/defender...so lets take washington so he helps out now and hope that aziz can become gifted enough to block alot of shots by the second half of the season..I think aziz is an important get not only for next year but for the year after next when in all likely hood gallon will be gone
