John Calipari's shots at Duke stoke an already smoldering rivalry

(EXCERPT) "I refuse to go in a home and paint a picture saying things like, 'If you come with us you’ll be taken care of for the rest of your life by the program and by our alums' even though you may only be in school for a year or two," Calipari wrote. "How preposterous does that sound? What if I say that same thing and the young man decides to transfer for one reason or another? Does that still hold true that we’re going to take care of them the rest of their lives? ...

... For proof, check out how top 10 Class of 2017 prospects Hamidou Diallo and Wendell Carter described Duke's recruiting pitch in recent interviews with the Louisville Courier-Journal and 247Sports respectively.

Said Diallo, "Duke's [pitch] was "if I come to Duke, I will be set for life."

Said Carter, "Going to Duke, you’re pretty much set for life as a student and an athlete.”

It is also interesting how Marques Bolden and Jeff Capel are mentioned in the article.

I don't know this to be true, but how is that an issue if Duke has the academic reputation that I believe it does? People say the very same thing about Stanford. That is you go there, you will never not have a job, based on the reputation backing your degree, or an alumni base that is wide-spread and willing to help other alumni. Heck, I've heard very recently in OU football recruiting that that is why we missed out on a kid to UT I think. That UT alumni take care of their own. And I've heard the same thing said about OU alumni.

Not a big deal, IMO. Just Cal whining like Cal does.

Daniel Orton was handing out money in the halal of mcguiness after his visit. That doesn't even count the thousands paid to his dad to help With kentucky's camp. I bet he hasn't helped since.

Agree.

Not to mention but coach k's coaching tree goes on and on with his former players coaching and his former players who are coaches bringing on former players as assistants.

Cal is probably just upset that after going undefeated and using the word platooning to describe his offense, that it was duke that won the championship that year.
