Katz is doing a story on recruiting. He will have taped footage with Capel and some other coaches:

Scott Drew (Baylor)
Paul Hewitt (GT)
Ernie Ziegler (Central Mich)
Ray McCallum (Detroit)
Matt Painter (Purdue)
Brad Stevens (Butler)

Good lord, what is up with the acoustics on this show!?

And I just realized Capel isn't on til tomorrow. Thankfully I can change the channel. Hopefully they get the production fixed before then.

Just opened up with Scott Drew, he seems hyper.

Unless I misheard, he called Perry Jones hardworking. Thats funny.

Capel is on with his brother now (Jason, coaching Appalachian St now)

Jeff is talking about his brother becoming a head coach.

Talking about how went from Final Four at Duke to 13-18, and the experiences of being around the Coaches at Duke.

Jeff doesn't want Appalachian St to ever come to Norman, Jason does though.

Breaking down Appalachian St now, Jason is excited for the year.

Katz asked what are the chances OU ends up top 6 in big 12.
Capel is excited with the hunger and breath of fresh air into the program.

Compares it to sophomore year at Duke

"What we lose in talent we make up for togetherness and a lot tougher. Mentally and Physically"

The conference realignment and the round robin influence of KSU, KU and Mizzou twice a year. The league is going to become better.

It is a misconception about Perry. He is a very hard worker. He is just not that assertive. But that should not be mistaken for laziness. He's already put on 15 lbs of muscle since the beginning of summer. He's not the typical freshman as far as work ethic. But he's probably not planning on being at Baylor long either.

Wait a second, I haven't quite put all the pieces together yet, somebody help me out. Did coach Capel play at Duke for 20 years or something? Did he even exist before he went to Duke, or did they just brainwash him there so that everything that comes after must be fit into one of the 4 peg holes matching his experience there? Like, frosh year was circle, soph was square, junior was triangle and senior year was diamond shaped. So from then on, every single thing that he would ever experience had to be one of those 4 shapes so that he could fit it into that memory and remember what happened back then so he could realize how to deal with the present issue now. Maybe everyone does this in one form or another.

I mean dang, doesn't seem like he tries to jam pentagons in square holes because he never has seen a pentagon before and can't adapt enough to carve some new holes in his coaching notebook?

What shape would his halfcourt shot vs. North Carolina be?

How is he suppose to answer this question?

Andy Katz: "How did your experiences at Duke as a player and being around the coaches influence you as a coach?"
