KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jeff Capel may be commenting about his future as Oklahoma's basketball coach. OU athletic director Joe Castiglione, however, is not.

Asked before tonight's OU-Baylor Big 12 Tournament game whether he wanted to make a statement regarding his embattled coach, Castiglione said he would do so at the "appropriate time. Now is not that time."

Chewy already told us. It's just a matter of it being tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

I think there needs to be a change. But I really hate it for Capel I think he is a good guy and hate to see him go through this. Sadly if he stays it will just be a matter of time. This team will be hard pressed to be any better with losing Cade.

As I fan I want a change, on a personal level I hate this for Jeff and his family. Can't imagine what is going through his mind.

This won't save his job if Joe has really made up his mind. We would have to go on and beat Texas for that to have a chance of happening.

All of this.

I hsve a feeling Jeff Capel will be an analyst next year.

Part of me has the feeling he'll be analyzing OU next year after every game, sitting in front of a crowd of reporters.

At this point I really don't know, and I really don't know what I'd do if I was AD. So thankfully I'm not.

Completely agree.
On a personal level, I really like the guy, so I won't be throwing a fit if he's back next year.

But it is all about the bottom line. And I think we might need to make a change.

I think Jeff Capel is a solid basketball coach that was burned by some really bad evaluations.

In fact, it's probably going to cost him his job.

This is how I feel. I want a change because the program is not doing good, but I have nothing against Jeff personally. He's a very good person from what I can tell.

I would say the evaluations for Early, Cannon, Willis, Allen, Neysmith, and the character evaluation on TMG is what is killing him at this point.

Other than TMG, I don't think any of these guys are big studs, but all would add depth and most were fairly highly ranked. I think the first 4 guys were all in the same recruiting class which also had either BG or WW, but nobody from that class is left at this point in time. You can't miss on 4 of 5 recruits when the 5th is only in school 2 years because it will deplete the roster.

The character evaluation on TMG was really bad. His demeanor on the court in HS should have been a giant red flag.

I'm not sure that's completely fair.
A lot of guys are different when they hit the reality of not being way better than everyone else in college. If you look at Newell, I thought he looked pretty cocky in high school, but he seems to have accepted his role and actively worked to improve as a player and teammate.
Granted, Cal isn't as good as TMG was as a freshman, but I don't think on-court attitude is a great way to judge character.
