Choctaw senior Jordan Saxton had one final game at home, and she wasn’t going to let an illness stop her.

Saxton, who recently signed with Bartlesville Wesleyan, scored 17 points to lead Class 6A defending champion Choctaw to a 56-45 win over Mustang for a Class 6A regional title.

She scored 11 points in the opening quarter, hitting three 3-pointers as Mustang tried to use a zone defense to slow down Choctaw’s guards.

“She’s sick and she went out and played one of the grittiest and toughest games I’ve seen a girl play,” Choctaw coach Ryan Maloney said.
