He's got a good feel for the game, so excited to see his development this offseason.

Agree, improve the handles and sharpen the passing.

Great news. Love these guys buying in and sticking around.

That said, we're left with few remaining slots for possible portal transfer, it would seem. Rick and who else? Coach, is there still a surprise awaiting us?

Mo could leave and open up one.

Right, right... my wishful thinking that he'd stay made me forget momentarily that he very well might go.
Maiwein maybe if he's not happy? Mason seems like a Moser guy.

I feel like there have to be at least a couple guys leaving, and Rick and Mason would be the most logical if they realize they don’t have a path toward much PT. Gibson obviously is a wild card depending on what he learns about overseas options.

Where could he have gone realistically? If you guys thought Manek was destined to go to ORU after scoring over 1400 points at OU surely you had Randall or MACU penciled in to get BC after the explosive year he had

I was okay if he stayed, okay if he left. His ceiling is backup PG material. Perfectly fine with him in that role.

We'll see how it all plays out long-term. I see backup PG as his ceiling, but here is the problem. If Uzoh is going to play PG, and if we recruit a transfer PG, then where are Cortes' minutes going to come from?

Great question. Agreed. Backup PG is his ceiling.

OU has and will play more then one PG at the same time ..

I’m not sold on Cortes as our starting point guard! He might be okay as a back up until (or if) he will stop making the same mistakes that result in a turnover.

If our coaches are unable to sign a quality PG out of the portal, I would rather go with Milos Uzan and hope he’s a quicker study than Cortes. I realize he’s a freshman, but Bijan still plays like one. After watching several Uzan highlight videos, I’m absolutely convinced that he would be better from the jump than Bijan Cortes.

This is just one, there are others:

EDIT: One may not be enough, watch this video. Uzan has the skills, but above all the athleticism!

Its annoying that this is a thing now that well have to do every year.. its one thing waiting to see if blake griffin/trae were going to go pro.. crazy we have to do this for likely backups now..

One of many confusing things: we have people who think Mo can/should be our point guard, while people are saying Cortes isn't athletic enough to be anything other than a backup and that he doesn't have much room to improve. Is Mo a better athlete than Bijan? Better leaper? Stronger? Quicker? I can't remember if we have ever seen Mo dunk. Obviously Mo is a better shooter, but we are talking about athleticism here. I know these things aren't publicly listed, but I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of their measurements in the things that are typically viewed as the best gauges of athleticism.

It’s just the way it’s going to be. I think it’s a good sign that Moser was able to retain guys who he didn’t sign and went through some growing pains during the year (either in playing time or performance). Maybe it won’t be something we have to worry about as much in the future.

Posters who saw Bijan play in high school told us the entire season that he had the skills and the athleticism to play the point at OU. I continued to say he could shoot, because that’s what his stats showed. I still believe I was right, but he refused to shoot for some reason. He teased us with an occasional fancy pass or two, but nothing I saw makes me think he is ready to run our offense next season. The only thing he was consistent at was turnovers, the same mistakes I alluded to earlier.

If I was wrong, prove it. I want to believe Bijan can be our starting PG next season. Nothing I would like more than to see an instate player running our offense!

Sadly, virtually the whole team was turnover-prone. It's an area in which we simply must see significant improvement next season.
