You cannot watch the first half of this season and declare that Dwight Howard is more deserving of an All-Star spot than Steph Curry. It's not even close.

I understand. Different roles. Different rules (votes vs. reserve picks). But the overall theory remains the same and it is violated.

Aldridge isn't a bad pick (although Damian Lillard is the better pick from the Blazers) - but NO WAY he deserves the spot over Curry ... and even over Jamaal Crawford for that matter. Voting Howard undeservedly into that spot means coaches feel obligated to extend a spot to Aldridge and Lee as post players .... taking away spots for players who truly deserve the honor.

The league needs a trump card over this vote thing. Curry may and probably will get another chance or 5 in his career to play in the All-Star game - but what about Crawford? 13 seasons and this was his best shot. It's not right because he more than deserves a spot.

Curry being left off is just outrageous. Were I coaching I'd say screw the team balance issue and put on the players (in reserve) who deserve it the most regardless of position. If that means an all-guard lineup then so be it. Once it becomes ridiculous enough maybe fans will take the hint - or the league will.

lol I really cannot understand the constant slamming of DHoward that is everywhere right now. Look, I don't like the dude, but take his name off of his stat line. You think this isn't allstar worthy(esp considering he is in a bad system and injured)?

17 PPG
12 RB
2 APG
2.5 BPG

Crawford is having a great year but not all star worthy.
Curry is putting up all star numbers but who are you going to put him in over?

Cool, Dwight Howard had nothing to do with Curry not being selected. Paul, Kobe, Westbrook, Parker & Harden were the guards selected ahead of him & Crawford. It probably wasn't even close.

I understand the system and injuries, but that doesn't change the fact that Howard has been playing like a borderline All-Star.

I would argue that Marc Gasol deserved the nod over Howard as well.

It seems like the West has more All-Star snubs than previous years, which is a testament to the insane amount of quality in the conference right now.

Crawford does not deserve an all-star bid at all....great shot maker, but his % are not good enough to override his defensive liability.

17-25 is the only stat I need to know about Howard. 17-25.

Kobe gets a nod because of the scoring. I will certainly grant him that. Howard gets thrown in the mix with all the other forwards and his personal stats don't overcome 17-25.

Bad mix or not. Bad fit or not. Whatever. 17-25. and it's not like they're looking at making it .500 anytime soon. They're not "an injury away". They suck. 17-25.

I agree with many of the other points and those other guards ARE deserving. That's why I said were I making the reserve choices I'd pick the more deserving vice balancing the roster. Little doubt that as good as David Lee has played Curry deserves a spot more ... so if they weren't trying to balance the roster then Curry would get the "Golden State reward" vice Lee.

I still think Crawford deserves the nod. At least I didnt say Faried.

team records shouldn't carry much weight with selecting all stars

All-Star games aren't really watchable anyway. I used to care about the 3 point shooting competition and the dunk contest but since the big names decided not to do them for the most part I don't really watch them either.
