Phoenix Mercury acquired Danielle Robinson from San Antonio Spurs, in exchange for the 5th overall pick in this years draft and reserve Isabelle Harrison. San Antonio will now have the #1 and #5 draft picks. Danielle will now be playing with Taurasi and Griner!!!!

I wonder if this means Diana Tauresi is retiring? You wouldn't give up the fifth pick unless there was an immediate need.

I see that her field goal percentage dropped about five percent last year, her assists dropped from 5.6 to 3.9, and her rebounds dropped from 3.8 to 3.0. She seems to be just a little bit from what she was. Were 11 years enough?

I see what might be going on. Wiki's story on Phoenix said that Tauresi sat out the 2015 season at the request of the Russian team that she plays for. They pay her $1.5 million per year. The Mercury salary is right at $100,000+/-. She may be retiring to Russia?

I follow the WNBA more closely than I do WCBB, which is already a lot. It's a smart move. Taurasi can run the point, but she's really a 2 guard. Penny Taylor retired. DRob's speed is exactly how the Mercury want to go. Perfect move. San Antonio already has Moriah Jefferson, so it's an easy trade to make. San Antonio wants that 5th pick for trading possibility or to increase their chances of getting another promising young post (if Coates doesn't go to them at 1 and everyone else passes - there are a few other posts to consider as well, e.g. Bri Jones - Maryland), whereas the Mercury looks at this draft and cuts their losses. It isn't a particularly strong draft. Next year, however, will be fantastic.
