Dave Bliss, our coach from 1975-1980 and Baylor's Head Coach in 2003 when they were rocked nationally by the Patrick Dennehy murder has been hired to be the Head Coach at Southwest Christian in Bethany, Oklahoma. This guy should never be allowed to coach again. EVER. Paying the players is one thing, wrongfully tarnishing and disintegrating a young man's character after his death to cover his own butt is......I just know I wouldn't want my brother or son playing for him.

He fabricated a story that Dennehy was a drug dealer to help cover his own behind because he was paying players, thus the reason he was banned from coaching in the NCAA for 10 years, he's just now eligible again. And maybe I have the Bethany part wrong, but I know he was hired by Southwest Christian on Monday

Lol Google was right I've never heard of it either. I'm all for 2nd chances but lying on a player that's been murdered to protect your own name is crazy #### . Idk it also reminded me how far Scott Drew has elevated & revitalized that Baylor program

It was more of a shot at congress. But I believe in 2nd chances.

He's served his time and paid the penalty. The guy is 71, he deserves a second chance if someone wants to give it to him.

I wish he would pull out some of his old plaid sportscoats he wore in Norman.

I'm glad Kruger invited him to the reunion. He started building the program in Norman with that Big 8 championship, Big 8 tourney championship and sweet 16 in 1979 and that was a good team.

What does that have to do with saying there are worse people in Congress?

To me saying X is OK because Y is worse is not very healthy. There is always going to be a Y that is worse.

I believe in second chances but I don't think the fact that there are bad people in other professions is a legitimate reason for a second chance.

I've not been a fan of Bliss since he cut and ran on us in a lateral move, and the mess at Baylor was really bad. He also (allegedly) pulled some slimy crap at Allen Academy, a private high school in Bryan, Texas.

The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools ruled last November that two players Bliss recruited, both of whom were entering their senior years at Houston-area public high schools, received improper inducements because they were allowed to pay only a fraction of Allen Academy's $10,000 yearly tuition. It also determined that Bliss forged the signature of the school's headmaster on a transfer form for another player who later decided not to enroll.

The findings led the association to place Allen Academy on two years' probation and suspend Bliss for a year. The school vigorously disputed that it violated the rules, and, rather than comply with the sanctions, moved to another association, the smaller and lesser-known Texas Christian Athletic League....

The association's top administrator says the matter is one of the messiest his group has ever dealt with. "You've heard the cliche 'a can of worms?' This was a can of snakes," said Edd Burleson, the organization's longtime director....full story​

I'm very much a believer in redemption and second chances, but I would not want Bliss coaching at a school I supported.
