Interesting. I definitely think the committee's focus on geography has gone a little overboard. I'm all for rewarding a team with a game(s) as close to home as possible, but in the end, I think competitive balance should be the goal of the selection process.

I'm also a little surprised to learn that the committee has reduced its focus on end of season performance. It just seems like the way a team is playing heading into the tournament should be a more relevant consideration. Despite the fact that this "metric" isn't included on the official "team sheets" I guarantee several committee members still consider it.
