TULSA — Deer Ceek’s No. 4 girls finally slowed Booker T. Washington’s hot outside shooting and sped past the Hornets 49-42 Thursday in the first round of the Class 6A basketball state tournament at Memorial Veterans Arena.
The Hornets went 6-for-10 from 3-point range over the first three quarters and led 40-32, but Deer Creek stepped up its defense and outscored the Hornets 17-2 in the fourth quarter, holding them to 1-for-12 from the field.
