After watching the Sapulpa/Broken Arrow game and the Ike/Choctaw game, it gave me a better feel for how Chelsea and Ana are doing. They are a bit different, but they share a trait that I really like. They score.
I see a lot of highly-ranked kids who go through a lot of motion and make a lot of fancy moves, but don't hit the shots. Looks good. Effectiveness isn't there.
It seemed that when Chelsea or Ana put up a three, it was very likely to go in. Chelsea was 1-1. Ana was about 7-9 from three. I looked back a couple of games, and it seems that Chelsea hits over half her three point attempts. They can hit the three.
They both demonstrated the ability to hit a ten to fifteen foot jump shot consistently. Chelsea blew a couple of layups, but usually hit them. I don't know that Ana missed much of anything.
Neither missed a free throw. I think I have seen games or parts of games in which Chelsea shot about thirty free throws. She missed one--two years ago in the state finals. She is deadly from the line. Ana is also deadly from the line. I think they may well be 90%+ free throw shooters at OU.
But, what really impressed me is that they didn't showboat. They just went out and did what they were supposed to do. They put the ball in the basket. I haven't seen a better shooter than these two in the past couple of years of watching HS games. I'm not sure that I have ever seen a better pure shooter than Ana.
