Edmond's Josh Richardson now ranked #121 nationally

Makes no sense to me for Capel not to be interested in a good player in our own backyard. Even If we did not have ships, you should be interested in case of transfers, non qualifiers, relationship with the Edmond coaches.

I have never understood why OU is not after Richardson. I would try to get every bigtime kid that I can get from the state of Oklahoma. Baffles me.

I wondered if it might be grades, but then I saw Ivy league schools that have offered him, so now I really don't know why we're not after him. Especially after Capel has gone on and on about what a great player Epke Udoh was. Wouldn't think he'd want to miss out on a Santa Fe star twice.

I watched both he and Neal in person last year. If Richardson was a senior last year, it would not have been a hard decision for Capel to give him the ship over Neal, IMO.

I say if we can run some people off, we should be all over him.

Obi on Edmond Memorial's team is better than some we have on the team now.

Both Woodard boys on Memorial are good players. The problem is all 3 are filler type recruits. We need some difference makers and quick.

how do we know Capels not interested in him?

Guru here (William Jennings) said we're not. Although I'm sure that could change like with Neal last year. Capel's apparently got his eyes on some east and west coast ballers for now.

Could be these kids have no interest in OU

Scout scouring report on Richardson....

Richardson is a very athletic, skilled wing that has flown somewhat under the national radar. He started to receive notice playing in the Nike EYBL, where his athleticism, ball-handing and ability to create a shot, as well as his quickness on defense, really stood out. His outside shoot is still developing, but with his ability to defende multiple positions because of his athleticism and length, and his ball-handling ability, Richardson is almost certainl a high-major prospect. A good student, Richardson wants to study to be a doctor.

ESPN....

Strength:
Richardson plays the game at a fierce pace and never takes a play off when on the floor. Josh's length allows to him wreak havoc on the defensive end of the floor by challenging shots, deflecting passes and getting tips on dribble penetration. Josh goes after rebounds and is quick off the floor with his jump to gather tough rebounds. Josh will grab long rebounds and push the ball himself in transition to make a play and score or set an open teammate up for a shot. Offensively, Josh can score the ball in a variety of ways with floaters or pull-up jump shots off a shot, or he can finish at the rim with an acrobatic lay-up or one-handed dunk.

Weaknesses:
He needs to improve his jump shot out to the stripe. He needs to work on his three point shot and must improve on cutting and moving without the basketball so he can become an even more effective scorer.

Bottom Line:
Josh has the potential to play all three perimeter positions at the next level due to his length and quickness. His passing was impressive as well as he projects to being one of those glue-types that all teams need to succeed. His upside is limitless; it will be fun to see how much he improves over the next year.

He's the best college prospect in the 2011 class in this state in my opinion.

Is OSU recruiting him?

Any chance we were recruiting him but he told Capel "no thanks"?

I don't believe he has any major conference offers. I know multiple teams have looked, but he's still looking more like a mid-major guy.

Jrich has a great skillset, but for unsigned prospects I have to go with Devante Wilson at Muskogee. Think of Deangelo Alexander, only stronger.
