I never once saw the way Harkless interacted with the team and thought he was the leader, or really, even a leader.

He wasn't the one that would pull the team together after fouls or before free-throws. He wasn't the one typically leading those short conversations. He wasn't the guy Moser would pull to the side and talk to.

Some of ya'll manufacture crap like this that really isn't true.

Kind of how we've you've made Harkless out to be some great defender. He isn't. He had that rep, but his on-court results don't suggest anything more than a slightly above average defender. We were pretty mediocre on D for having two "great" defenders starting at the 1 and 3 spots.

I see your points but the team and staff felt a lot different. 1/3 were more than slightly above avg. but I get what you’re saying.

Sure he had to be sat for being reckless. Took it like a champ.

If Joe B is eligible then he would start over Harkless. I don’t think it was coincidence the timing of EJ entering the portal and Joe B’s commitment.

Maybe. But is Harkless a 3 or a 2? Pretty sure he was a 3. Gibson is a 2, right? So shouldn't Joe B be moved into the 2 spot? I would move him into the 2 spot if Gibson is gone. Which is still up in the air.

I would say after Bacot came back for UNC there has to be a bit of confidence that Gibson comes back. Unless he wants to run point. Regardless, we're still searching for a 2 or 3 to start. Unless people think Jacob Groves will start at the 3. If so..........yeah...............not a fan.

Agree on Schroeder. Fingers crossed. And yes it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Moser could find someone to at least compete with Tanner.

With you both on this. I would prefer if we could just slide Tanner over. I just don't think he's athletic enough to be a Big 12 Center. Plus his interior defense is so, so, bad.

I like Tanner and think he has some valuable skills....but I also think he is a little limited when he has to bare the load by himself.....I like to see a really athletic bug or a bruiser who can bully some people around....but then again....Moser wants guys to fit a specific role so whoever he gets will have to fit in.....it was just tough to watch when Tanner and Hill were trying to duke it out with some of the bigs we play against.. ouch.

I haven't seen enough of Moser's teams to really have an educated opinion, but if "5-out" means you have to have an uber-skilled 5 who relies more on finesse and passing acumen than getting down, dirty, and physical in the post... The stats and highlights show Joe B is a better shooter and athlete than EJ. EJ is the better defender at this point, but Joe B has 3 years of eligibility left. Joe B’s highlights show a decent amount of off-hand dexterity as well.

Also, you won’t find anything from me posting negative stuff about EJ. I wish EJ would stay because I like him as a player, but Joe B is better. EJ’s leaving has more to do with his minutes shrinking than anything said on this board.
