How about that nice, but I think legal, "moving screen" after the pass to create a little space. Very clever.

I said it wasn't illegal but by passing to the guy behind you then moving away it helps give the shooter space. Much better than passing to a guy to the side of you.

It wasn't a screen

The commentators on TBS just called it a "brush screen". So, some validation. They said if the brush screen was not there there might not have the space to get such a good shot.

It was an incredible play by Arcidiacono. Anyone who ever played basketball in their driveway put themselves in that spot.... Championship on the line, clock ticking down, ball in your hands. I can tell you this, when I was a kid and played that situation out.....I never passed.

He had the presence of mind to not only not panic, but to actually set up someone else with a clever little move. I think the overwhelming majority of players just shoot it there--- either out of some panic on time or because in either a conscious or subconscious way, they want to be the one to take the shot. If Buddy has the ball there, he's shooting it. Doesn't matter where he is or how many guys are in his face, he's shooting it. I'm shooting it. The fact that Arcidiacono had the ball in his hands and himself having a hot hand yet choosing to cooly set up Jenkins is just great stuff. Jenkins will always be the hero, and rightfully so. He shot that thing like he knew it was going in-- but his teammate set him up perfectly.

When Cousins hit that game-winning shot against (insert team I can't remember here), didn't the pass come from Buddy? Or is my memory letting me down and Buddy was just a decoy who didn't touch the ball?

Buddy was the decoy. But if Cousins was doubled he would have passed to Buddy. LSU game.

It was a drawn-up play. They ran it earlier in the tournament, also.
