Why is it that when the inevitable 10 minute referee huddle around the monitor occurs, the teams are allowed to be coached? This consistently gives teams that have exhausted all of their timeouts an extra timeout at the most critical point in the game. This is pure lunacy and it's driving me crazy. If people insist on referees spending 10 minutes looking at monitors, the players should be kept far away from the coaches while the review is in progress. I always have and always will hate replay reviews in all sports, they are worthless. Thanks for reading.

That one was certainly worthless because after all that time, they got the call wrong.

Toward the end of a game, I personally believe taking a timeout to set your defense offers more advantage than drawing up a play.

Replay is good for the game. This is an unfortunate by-product. I hardly see it as a big problem.

I'm obviously a major minority on the topic, I literally can't even see everyone else's POV on this topic.

So a team that is leading with minimal time remaining and no timeouts gets the unwarranted benefit of setting up their defense, every bit as egregious IMO.

Completely disagree with the premise, replay gives a false illusion of "getting it right". It doesn't actually achieve that goal.

The "perfect storm" almost happened last night. OU blew a lead. Buddy turned the ball over twice in the last minute. Woodard missed a free throw. OSU purposely missed a free throw that worked out for them getting the ball off a fortunate carom. They got a free timeout to design a play. They got a 3-point shot off that almost banked in for the upset.

My whole life almost passed in front of me. GIA would have gone bonkers. Aggies would have gloated for weeks. Suddenly order was restored. Total embarrassment was avoided.

I hope that ending serves as a wake-up call for the team. Maybe the Sooners looked past the Cowboys. Maybe they were too full of the headlines telling them how great of a team they are. Maybe it was just a nightmare of a half. Whatever the reason, I hope it causes them to get more focused.

Maybe one of the teams doesn't want the timeout.

OK. So it's not 100% ideal, but its worth it if they can get the calls right at the end of games. Besides, I'm not sure I can think of a single time where this had a tangible adverse impact on the outcome of a game. If Carroll's shot would have gone in last night, it would have been as much about luck as anything Ford drew up in those extra few minutes.

It happens across the country all the time, remember that wide open 3 Selden had for KU off the double screen at the end of OT1 (I believe), Kansas was out of timeouts and another replay review that changed nothing, gave Self time to draw it up. And by time, I mean 5 minutes.

Good to see ISU got a free timeout to help setup their defense up 2 with 20 seconds to play.
