OU-KU 2015 (Buddy for the win) and OU-LSU 2016 were both on last night, although they were truncated to an hour each. Of course, I always love anything that causes the Evil Empire (KU) any sadness.

In both cases, though, it was painfully obvious who the "talking heads" were pulling for, and it definitely wasn't OU. That actually added to my enjoyment, much like it did when OU beat Penn State in the '86 Orange Bowl (another "classic" boiled down to an hour).

Do you really think ESPN was rooting for LSU? ESPN loved Simmons, sure, but I don’t recall a college player getting more love than Buddy over the past several years. Sad that they cut the games down to an hour ... it’s not like there is any live sports content right now, so they should easily be able to spare a couple hours for an occasional hoops rebroadcast.

Loved it. I gorged on that stuff too yesterday. I watched the LSU and KU bball games, and the old Michigan and Penn State football games. The 1975 Michigan game was especially interesting, seeing how we stood up against teams back then, before my time. Might I say...very well!

I live in Houston, and really have kept Uverse because they still have Fox Sports Oklahoma in their U200 package, and I love the content(mostly the bball noncon patsy games). Were I to cut the cord as they say, could I get that as an app with these latest ala cartes or whatever? I bought the ESPN plus last year so I could watch the K-state games, that was my only toe dipping into the firestick/sling/whatever world...

My memory could be faulty but I thought I remembered the announcers hyping Simmons early in the game but eventually gushing over Buddy's performance.

That LSU game was definitely a Simmons hype game. Dicky V and Jim Nantz tried to make it out to be Buddy Vs. Simmons but they were drooling all over themselves over Simmons. Even as OU cut LSU's lead and went back and fourth in the last 5 minutes they were noticeably more animated on LSU buckets. They wanted LSU to win. After that game it was all Buddy all the time.

Dickie V is the world’s worst at that. Whoever he hyped up pregame can make an average play & he’ll go crazy, the someone else will make a great play & he might not even acknowledge it.

I am still hoping to see a recent "classic," based on the ending - and it's one that I missed and forgot to record. That was the final game played in OU's 2019-2020 season: OU at TCU. I have seen the on-line highlights, but it wouldn't be the same as seeing at least the boiled-down version.

If they want to go old-school, they'd have to find a couple of my faves that were done on CBS over 30 years ago: OU over Arizona at the LNC in '89 and the greatest game in LNC history, OU-UNLV in 1987.

I don't understand it. There were so many great national TV games back then. To chop the few they show to pieces is ridiculous. There must be some draconian stipulations in these contracts. How in the world can the LHN show full games all the time while we're stuck with these hour-long abominations? Ninety minutes should be doable for a BBall game, and three hours or so for football. 150 minutes or less if we're out there running the Wishbone with a beastly defense.

GAMES I'D LOVE TO SEE (by season):

1985 - Georgia Tech
1987 - UNLV
1987 - Pitt
1988 - Pitt
1988 - Kansas State (Big 8 Final)
1988 - Louisville
1989 - Loyola Marymount
1989 - UNLV
1989 - Missouri
1989 - Arizona
1989 - Louisiana Tech
1990 - UNLV
1990 - Loyola Marymount
1990 - Missouri
1990 - Kansas
1990 - Kansas (Big 8 Semi)
1990 - Colorado (Big 8 Final)

Nothing in the last 30 years??

I saw all of them with my own two eyes, Eielson! I don't need a crappy one-hour recap.

Hell, I was in Baton Rouge. We were #1! I can close my eyes and see it!

I was there too. The LSU fans gasped almost every time the ball went to Buddy. Lattin with the block to end it. With the KU game, Buddy with the tip at the buzzer. Both were classic games!!!!
