I believe Gabbi will have a great career at OU over the next 4 years. Everyone knows how much I thought of DRob but, she was not your classic PG. Gabbi is. This is what I have wanted at see at OU for a long time. I don't expect her to light up the scoreboard very often but, I do think she will be a great assist guy provided we get good movement without the ball. She keeps her head on a swivel and she sees the entire court better than any PG we have had since Stacey played the position. She also looks to push the ball when the possibility presents itself. I love that because it puts so much pressure on the defense, wears down the defense, and creates easier scoring opportunities. That has been missing from our offense for waaaaay too long. She also doesn't wait for someone else to get a rebound and pass to her. She looks to grab the boards herself and takes off quickly looking to pass ahead. I don't know why Sherri has had trouble getting other point guards to push the ball but at least we have one now who does it on her own.

She will have some growing pains from time to time but, she will learn from her mistakes and get better.

She is just what the doctor ordered.

I had questions, about her size after hearing Nell Fortner say she was about 5'3. She had a lot of rebounds last night, she could turn out to be similar to Samantha Logic, current Iowa point guard.

I don't know that we have yet seen what she can do since she is known as a scorer. But, she is in control of the ball, and she doesn't go where she will get into trouble. It helps that we have others more like her that also pass and move. She didn't show the typical freshman tendency to throw the ball into the crowd, except for that first pass.

11 Words. Best Pure Point Guard candidate OU has had in some time!!

I have not been as excited about a freshman player since Joanna McFarland. Yes she has performed in only two scrimmages so far, however her poise, confidence, and ability to lead from the point position is beauty to behold. She plays with a reckless abandon. Chasing after loose balls out of bounds, rebounds in the land of giants, passes to open team mates, etc..... Every thing you want from a point guard, she does. She will have some growing pains, that is for sure, but its rare to see a kid who does for the TEAM and not for selfishness at such a young age. I think she will be some thing special for the crimson and cream.

Strangely enough, when I see the movement, hustle, and passing of this team with Maddie, Gabi, Peyton, and Nicole kind of leading the charge, I have much more faith in their ability to accomplish something than I had with a more experienced team that didn't seem to be able to step up when it counted. I see several who are willing to step up, who are the type to step up. When I see Gabi, I see a ball-handler that I trust to make something happen in a tight game, who won't mishandle the ball.

It was only Southeastern, but I watched a group of players attack the court with an intensity that was missing last year. I saw a control that I didn't see last year. I think a part of it is the maturation of Nicole. But, how much of it is due to the presence of Peyton, Maddie, and Gabi, none of whom were on the floor last year? Even LaNesia, who was also not here last year, seemed to have the drive to make something happen.

I don't know who the emotional leader of this team is right now. But, Gabi is the one with her hands on the ball.
