GAME 17 - OKLAHOMA (13-3) vs TEXAS (11-5) 9pm CST on SEC NETWORK

Oh I agree 100 percent. And last season is the one that really was a debacle. Again, he had Moore, two guys who now start on top 10 teams, and a very athletic and effective Soares. Led them to a 2-11 record against the field, and never even attempted to use their athletic ability on defense in conference games.

There was a play at the end of UK's game Tuesday where Oweh was fouled and after the whistle, he casually went behind his back and lobbed the ball off the backboard to himself and dunked it. Loser did such a crap job with his development that by the end of the season, Oweh was coming off the bench and almost unplayable at times.
Last year, oweh could not handle the pressure of being the #1 or 2 scoring option for OU. This year, he is 3rd scoring option for Kentucky. This has helped him. Not saying he has not lead them in scoring, he just isn’t main option.

Not sure mosier knows how to coach to a freak athlete strength. He tends to like skilled players more. You need a combo in today’s world.

I mean, he leads them in scoring by two points per game and is barely behind their team leader in shots per game, so I’m not sure how you consider him their third option. He’s taking two shots per game more than last season and his overall usage rate is identical to last year.

You’re certainly right that Moser isn’t good coaching great athletes. Again, he had four of them last season but played a passive defense that didn’t use their athletic ability at all.

Or don't. They seem to not play well in front of larger home crowds under Moser. Maybe if they think it's a neutral site they might be more successful. What's OU's non-conference tournament neutral site record over the past couple years? Pretty good?

It’s bizarre but they seem to have stage fright in front of decent crowds. They are so uncommon that they **** the bed every time without fail. Missing free throws is a sign of being nervous or unfocused.

Am I taking crazy pills or were we at one point this year one of the top FT shooting percentage teams in the country?
What does that tell you if we are good at FTs against bad teams and bad against good teams

Definition of stupidity is to do the same thing and expect a different result. In our last several games, stretching back into non-conference games, we have slept walked and played with a complete lack of focus in the first half of games (one or two exceptions). Last night was just the continuation of a pattern. Moser needs to evaluate everything they do on the day of and the day before each game, what they do, what they eat, what he says to them, etc. Are they smoking weed, whatever.

We are playing with good focus and energy for between 20-25 minutes a game. We are playing teams in conference that are playing 35-40 minutes a game. We aren't good enough to overcome this difference.

No problem with him giving Fears some room to grow and make mistakes, but it is another thing to let him play with no energy or effort, mentally and physically. Moser's job is not to get Fears ready for the NBA next year, regardless of what it does to this team. You can't let him play us out of all these games and right now he is doing that. As long as he is engaged, and trying, great, when he looks like he did the first 25 minutes last night, you have to sit him. Also, start working on free throws. We missed more free throws than the ending scoring difference.

First game in a few years where Texas didn't have substantially more talent than us. We missed a real opportunity last night. Our effort was literally embarrassing for the first 25 minutes, particularly considering we were playing our arch rival.

Some encouraging things: Continued play of Wague, play of Dayton and taylor. didn't quit when they got down by 20 and fought back. On to South Carolina. Don't know much about them.

Watched a handful of games and read articles. Most points I saw from him were fast break and after a set play was run for someone else. He was able to break down defense or rebound. They did not seem to run to many set plays through him. Articles read talked about set plays going to a guard and center. So that is where I got he was their third option.

That can be debated. If set play for someone else breaks down and Oweh gets ball for one on one, I would say that Oweh is behind the other player in team options.

Also add in 3/4 sec games he was teams 3rd highest scorer. And of course that will fluctuate.

Bama and Texas are the only games where we struggled at the line, and it was irrelevant against Bama. Fears missed the key front end that cost us against A&M, but we were 14-17 that night. I am less worried about FTs than a lot of other things, but I understand your point. It could well be a mental thing, because it is a lot easier to step to the line with confidence when you are up 20 on Alcorn State than when it is a tight game against a real team.

I am very frustrated, along with everyone else, and for good reason. I will NEVER join in any attack when it comes to the teams I love. If the sports I have loved since I was a kid in the 70s become so unenjoyable that I can't watch a game without vomiting, as some have said they do, I will certainly step away from the sport. Again I get the frustration, but man this board, the only one I have posted on for the last 15-18 yrs., and the constant complaining and bickering have made it almost too miserable to visit. It almost feels like some have gotten so entrenched in proving they are right about their opinion of the team, coach, etc, they almost seem joyful about us losing. That part I will never understand..... carry on though. I will still support this team and coach until changes are made, and then I will support whoever takes over, just as I always have... I get the blasting of Lincoln Riley because of how he left, but do people think Venables, Moser, and the players don't want to win? Calling them names and the repeated reminders of their faults in EVERY thread, make the board no fun, even when we were 12-0.

It’s just so predictable what is said during the games…”we suck”, “Moser sucks” yada yada over and over. You’re right (above) it’s not fun/interesting to follow this board. Hoping/wishing? for them to lose every conference game.
It’s disgusting but whatever…knock yourself out

I mean, I get that no one wants to see negativity all the time, but the tone on the board is typically going to reflect the state of the program and it’s not currently very good. Not sure what you’d expect? If we could only say positive things this board would likely be a ghost town because there ain’t much positive going around right now for OU bball

Complaining more about message board comments than our dog**** coach who makes millions of dollars and players who make hundreds of thousand of dollars is a choice I guess.
