I really hope this is a weekly feature now (Nick Thompson was featured last week), gotta love the work that Houck and the Basketball department is putting in.
"I take pride in making people better and winning. I don't think anybody who plays wants to lose. That's just something I have instilled in me. I want to win anything I play -- ping pong, video games, anything. I hate to lose. I think that's the main thing. I have a toughness and I want to win every time I'm out there.."
My favorite quote.

How great will it be to have a PG that is willing to defend and do the dirty work, even if he isn't as talented at TMG. I'm excited about watching this team play. Sure they likely won't be very good, but it'll be nice to see some real effort next year.

I actually think we have a chance to be decent. Hard work > natural ability

I would like for someone to explain to me just why everyone can be so sure this team "won't be any good.” I expect lots of growing pains with all the new players we have coming in. But I believe there's enough talent/ability/work ethic to give this team at least a chance to compile a .500 (or better) record.

Good read.... Carl may be the most important player on the team this year.

Can't be much worse than 13-18. I agree another 16-15 season like Capel's first year might be fun after last years bunch. I actually enjoyed watching that team. They were just overmatched late in Big 12 play when they hit the likes of Texas, Kansas etc.

I'm expecting this years team to be like Capel's first year here and I'm hoping next year will be somewhere between his 2nd year (23-12) and 3rd year (30-7). That first team with the Griffin boys may be better than what we'll have next year, but they couldn't catch a break with all the injuries and that tough schedule or they would have been more like 27-7.

"I just want to win."

"Coach Capel sold me on the idea that I'd be surrounded by players who are willing to work hard and who want to win."

Folks, OU has a real PG again.

Capel is 29-33 without Blake Griffin (actually 2-3 games worse than that, because OU lost games without Griffin while he was here), so its pretty hard to predict an OU bounce-back similar to the one after his first year right now....

With that being said, it could happen in a similar fashion, just with different guys. There wont be any NBA players like Taylor Griffin, Willie Warren, and Blake Griffin leading a comeback... But I am pretty confident in guys like Cameron Clark, Stephen Pledger, and Andrew Fitzgerald to lead OU out of this.

Guys lets please not overhype these kids. I love Carl's attitude as well. It's definitely a breath of fresh air after last years "me first" guys. Still, he is a pg who averaged 9 pts, committed 100 turnovers, and led his team to a 8-22 record. They went 3-15 in the SunBelt. Aside from CB coming here, N.O. had their 2nd leading scorer sign with Memphis. Obviously they were not a bunch of stiffs. To think that CB is going to come in here and turn this situation around with just a good attitude is setting the stage for disappointment.

Lets just get behind these guys and hope they play with with passion, intensity, and unselfishness. If the wins follow, even better.

You are probably right, but if OU is going to win more than 13 games we need Carl Blair to be a legit player. 100 turnovers, 3-15 sun belt record, and 8-22 overall does not sound promising though....

Hard work + Natural Ability > Hard work

When Capel gets this mix then we start talking about winning it all...

after a 13-18 season with a bunch of natural athletes that would not put in the work, im looking forward to a hardworking team that might be less talented. And I'm will to put an avatar bet or something in that region on this team winning more than 13 games this year

He also won games without Griffin while he was here, including @OSU his freshman season.

29-33...you have to love those completely useless statistics. Speaking of useless statistics, did you know Kelvin Sampson only won 3 NCAA Tournament games in the 8 years he didn't have Hollis Price? Yup; I'm sure we can both spew out useless stats all night long.

As for Carl Blair, I love his attitude and look forward to seeing him on the court. My expectations are not high based on his freshman stats. Regardless, I echo a lot of posters feelings about looking forward to watching guys give it their all.

Im not sold on OU until they prove something on the court. I have had season tickets for 14 years and dont plan on stopping, but i just call it like i see it.

yep...it's the same every year...fans get excited about players that have never proven anything on the court...

Even though i have always been an OU fan, i was more casual and didnt get into any of the recruiting or anything until the past couple of years...it amazes me the hype fans give players that they either have never seen or have only seen in high school/juco...

I guess i have been on here too much the past couple of years because i fell into that catagory last season...but once i saw the first exhibition game i could tell something was missing, just thought they would overcome it and get better with the talent they had...boy i was wrong....
