Well, I'm impressed. Most frosh appear to be lost about half of their time out on the court, but not Gioya. She switches well with screens and appears to be a terrific one-on-one defender. Her athleticism is more than apparent. To date my only criticism would be what I almost expect from all frosh, namely being out of control speed-wise as they adjust to the college game, and in Gioya's case, it usually moving too fast to maintain control. But, as can be seen in the interview, she is already well aware of this fact. This, I'm sure, will be corrected with additional playing time. IMO, she appears to be leading the other frosh mentally as she adjusts to the college game, and judging from her PT, Coach Coale evidently must feel the same way.
As she progresses, it's appears clear that many opposing players will have a really, really tough time dealing with her - both offensively and defensively. IMO the most advanced frosh since Whitney came to Norman.
