Gioya

Well, I'm impressed. Most frosh appear to be lost about half of their time out on the court, but not Gioya. She switches well with screens and appears to be a terrific one-on-one defender. Her athleticism is more than apparent. To date my only criticism would be what I almost expect from all frosh, namely being out of control speed-wise as they adjust to the college game, and in Gioya's case, it usually moving too fast to maintain control. But, as can be seen in the interview, she is already well aware of this fact. This, I'm sure, will be corrected with additional playing time. IMO, she appears to be leading the other frosh mentally as she adjusts to the college game, and judging from her PT, Coach Coale evidently must feel the same way.

As she progresses, it's appears clear that many opposing players will have a really, really tough time dealing with her - both offensively and defensively. IMO the most advanced frosh since Whitney came to Norman.

Carter has certainly played the most. I had to look up the statistics to see how much more than the other freshmen she had played.

It seems that they have done more than this. But, the freshmen as a whole are only playing 50.5 minutes per game and scoring only 8 points per game. They have 9 rebounds per game. No sign of Felisha.

Totally agree! Sherri sees her in practice every day and knows what she and the others are capable of doing on the court. Practice will be different than game day especially until they feel comfortable on the court. And as you say, Gioya is very aware! She's one of the most well rounded frosh we've ever had and I'm sure she's going to get more comfortable and we'll be able to see her talents more and more. Glad she's a Sooner!

Agreed, she doesn't play like a freshman. Knows no fear and is not afraid of making a mistake. She will pay valuable dividends as the season progresses. Very happy with her moxy and toughness. She is definitely a keeper.

Out of control speed wise, sort of like Vegas when she goes to the basket?

She made a nice adjustment in this game and really helped us down the stretch. Nice progress. She now has a better idea of how she can score with the drive and pullup. She just needs to start hitting treys.

Yes she's made good progress already. Before, should would drive and look for the dump-off even when she had an open shot. Against Gonzaga, she started taking the open shot.
