Bailey Golden’s first shot was right on target. So was the next one and the one after that. It was that kind of night for Choctaw’s senior guard.

“She shot the ball with extreme confidence and that’s who we need her to be, step up and be the player she was always destined to be,” Choctaw coach Ryan Maloney said.

Golden scored 28 points — 16 in the third quarter — to lead No. 3 Choctaw to a 58-40 victory over No. 11 Deer Creek in the semifinals of the Lady Jaguar Classic.

Golden, who has signed to run track at Oklahoma State, made the opening 3-pointer of the game and scored 10 points in the first half, helping the Yellowjackets build a 24-17 lead. In the third, she made 6 of 7 shots and looked unstoppable to build a commanding 48-29 lead.

“It got the momentum going and everything just clicked after that,” Golden said.
