Cur’Tiera Haywood got the pass at the top of key jabbed left, crossed her defender up and found a clear path to the basket.
As Haywood layed it in for two of her 18 points against rival Yukon on Tuesday, it was just another display of both athletic ability and fantastic handles wrapped up in a 6-foot-1 post player.
“She’s awesome,” Mustang coach Kevin Korstjens said. “She’s the whole package and her versatility makes us tough.”
Class 6A No. 13 Mustang went on to beat Yukon 51-49 to improve to 12-6 on the season.
Korstjens said he stressed to his girls limiting Yukon’s second chance opportunities. Yukon is a good 3-point shooting team but what it misses it goes after hard on the glass.
Mustang limited Yukon to just five offensive rebounds.
